"they are charging to attend my nieces dance recital"
Thu Feb-04-16 11:10 AM by RobOne4

she is 3 fucking years old. Her mom just sent out a text to the family to see if anyone wants to go. Adult tickets are $22 if you buy the early tickets. Kids are $15. This isn't going to be at the Disney Opera House. This shit is going to be at the local HS. Once again she is 3 fucking years old. So you know it's going to suck. Is this shit normal?

What kind of monster can say "No," to a 3 year old's recital?

I could see $5 or something like that. I'm sure the dance school has expenses & stuff. $22 is definitely way over the line.

you have to pay to rent the hall/auditorium
you have to pay the audio/backstage personnel
you have to pay for the costumes
you have to pay for any professional/semi-professional taping of the recital
and so on and so forth

The costs add up, and particularly if your studio isn't in an rich area, a dance studio is more expensive than you can imagine.

while I think the price is insane it's also in SoCal where 1200 sq ft houses can sell for $700K.

so IMO it's right in line with the other crazy prices in the area.

Like you have basic operating costs, but most studios are going to travel for dance competitions and that's more money they have to shell out. They might have visiting instructors and that's extra costs. You might have an annual festival, and have to absorb the cost for that. Costs add up.

You get to a point where it's not worth the fight with the parents to beg them for money so you spread costs out and try to recoup them where they can.

I thought Dance Instructors got paid when they registered for classes? I posted those prices in another reply here.

>you have to pay to rent the hall/auditorium

understandable. But it is at a HS not the Disney Concert Hall.

>you have to pay the audio/backstage personnel
ha this is for pre k age kids. What kind of audio do you really need? Someone to push play on the CD?

>you have to pay for the costumes
parents paid for that separate from the cost of classes.

>you have to pay for any professional/semi-professional taping
>of the recital
Yeah those tape and sell DVD's of the performance. They usually charge a small fee to tape. Then collect when people order copies.

>and so on and so forth
this shit is a bigger racket than church

>The costs add up, and particularly if your studio isn't in an
>rich area, a dance studio is more expensive than you can
>imagine.
this one is in a very nice area. I assume the cost of registration covers the costs.

AND they banned all photography/video cameras...if you wanted video, you had to buy theirs, and if you took a flash photo, you were...uh...escorted out.

and if you still want to keep favorite uncle status you better go and bring some flowers....

they gonna come on state and run around for 2 minutes then you have to sit thru the whole thing

at my daughter's dance school's spring concert last year.
First off, mofos were late and complaining about having to wait for scene changes to entire the theater.

Then, you had the folks trying to text during the show, or talk on their cell phone.
One chick was sitting behind us on her phone and got mad when she was asked to put it away.

the parents are fucking awful. Phones out, getting up during the dances, families of 8 or 9 leaving right after their child performed.

I'm trying to remember why I was there but I think it's because my wife was really pregnant at the time or I was being nice so I could play my free nigga card later in the week.

I was thinking of starting a church. But now I want to start a dance team.

okay I reread the flyer and if you have multiple kids you only have to pay an additional $5 performance after the $22.`
