Blac Youngsta Detained by Police After Withdrawing $200,000 From Atlanta Bank

Yo Gotti’s artist Blac Youngsta was recently detained by police officers outside an Atlanta bank after withdrawing $200,000 in cash.
The incident happened Friday (Jan. 8) at Wells Fargo bank on Peachtree Rd. NE. According to Blac, born, Sam Benson, he walked into the bank and took $200,000 out of his account. Everything was all good until he got outside and says he was surrounded by police. “They come bum rushing me at the car, put me on the ground, putting guns to my head, so I’m like ‘What I’d do,’” Benson told 11Alive. “A lady was like I’m not supposed to have…$200,000 on me. I’m like, ‘I’m a millionaire. How can I not have $200,000 on me?’”
After being detained for a short period, police apologized and let the rapper go freely saying they acted the way they did because someone had written a bogus check recently. “They thought I did it too, but I’m legit,” Benson said. “They confused me with whoever they were looking for.”
BY, who says he got the cash out to buy a new vehicle, recently took to his Instagram account to expound on the situation. Aside from a photo that shows him being cuffed on the ground by a police officer along with the caption, “Look how they treat a young rich nigga,” there are two videos of him explaining what went down (below).
Youngsta recently singed to Gotti’s Collective Music Group, formerly known as Cocaine Musik Group, and appears on the rapper’s recent mixtape, The Return.

FOH

If I want to buy a house with rolls of nickels, and the house seller takes my nickels, neither the bank manager, nor the police, nor you should have anything to say about it. If it was illegal money...different story, but there is no evidence of this being anything but legit earnings, besides the deluded suspicions of the bank manager and the local police.

If Bill Gates withdrew 200 grand, would he be handcuffed outside the bank? Of course he would because everyone knows the the justice system is blind and fair to all...

have to do with him withdrawing his own money, or being handcuffed for doing so?

If he pisses away his money, that is his problem, a self inflicted wound that he will have to deal with.

Taking your own money out of a bank with proper identification shouldn't be a problem for anyone...even young black men...but I guess you think differently.

Everyone knows Bill Gates to be the wealthiest man in the world at one point in time so it would not be odd for him to want $200k cash

Just as we know Floyd Mayweather has millions in cash in his home.

In this very post you have people questioning if this young rappers group/label makes that type of money. So it is not beyond reason that the bankers at Wells Fargo had the same concerns.

>there is a reason the FBI has a $10,000 threshold on banking
>transactions

...and the protocol is to notify the FBI for said transactions, not to call the local police, correct?

This is similar to the Oregon takeover of the federal property...white armed men do it and we wait a week, talk to them, ask them to leave nicely, virtually zero police presence.

Had they been armed black men, tear gas, riot gear, shootout, over in hours.

All due to the perception (read as: Bias) of the officials involved.

Why'd they let him withdraw it in the first place if they thought the check was bogus...they should have put an extended hold on the check(s) when he deposited.

15. "Why is everyone so up in arms? He was not known at this bank"
In response to Reply # 0

I worked at a bank for a few years and VERY RARELY we had customers come in and withdraw more than $50k.
Really, withdrawing more than $5,000 in cash was rare but people getting/depositing $500,000 cashiers checks was quite common (home purchases and such).

But those that did we knew them PERSONALLY because they were in our branch so much
These people were all well known businessmen in Dallas

If a 21 year old black male that looking like the guy in the news clip came in and requested to take $200k cash out we'd most definitely have to call the authorities because this is what we are trained to do

Let's say that no one in our bank knew who hew as but then after he sat down with a banker and via small talk we found out he was the son of Robert Smith or Kneeland Youngblood then we'd be a bit more at ease.

Even if he was a white kid at this age we'd have to do a bit of "background checking" to ensure that the money in this account is legitimate as well as the person withdrawing the funds. It's quite simple for someone to have fake IDs made and gain account numbers and if we let the money walk out the bank then we are responsible for it.

Also, if you've ever purchased a home you will know escrow companies do not let you walk in with cash. It's either a cashier check or a wire transfer. No exceptions. Dodd-Frank has made the penalty for banks not doing their due diligence more severe so banks do more to stop money laundering and fraud.

In response to Reply # 15

He obviously went through whatever hoops he had to in order to get the money. It's not like he was pressuring them with a gun and mask.
If they were suspicious, just tell him they can't process it at the moment.

Why hand him his cash and then arrest him in the parking lot?

Sidenote: The bank was probably prepared to see him. Very few banks are set up to handle random 200k withdrawals. You usually have to call a day or two ahead.

Many times we would not have that type of cash readily accessible unless the vault was open and the vault would only be open at certain times of the day for short periods of time.

I'm not sure why the police had to do all that with guns drawn and handcuffing and putting him on the curb but they could have sent a couple detectives and placed him in a unmarked car and had him answer questions if they really wanted to.

I believe they took it too far with the handcuffing but I do not believe the bank went too far with the profiling.

I'm sorry but working in a bank you "get a feel" for the people that have THAT kind of money in their accounts.

No one knew him so they questioned where he got the money from.

Maybe the money was seasoned in his acct long enough.
So just because the money is in the account doesn't mean the account nor the transaction is legitimate.
He probably opened the account in November, deposited $1.2M in December and trying to withdraw $200k cash in January

This is an odd sequence in the banking world.

Please believe me, customers that withdraw this kind of money have been with the bank for years and have a reputation (of withdrawing this type of cash) with the bank.

If not, we can look up which bank and when the client opened the account and which bank he does most of his transactions. We will then call that branch manager and ask if they know this person and what is their physical description. This can all be done within a few minutes (shorter time than it takes us to get into the vault and prepare their withdrawal).

They will then contact the customer's "regular" bank and ask for positive ID on said person.
Anyone that withdraws over $100k cash from a bank will stand out and "be known" in said bank.
They will have a banker and get preferential treatment.

There is profiling that goes on in banking.
It was handled poorly by this Atlanta location/police dept.

Just as if he'd stuck a gun in a teller's face requesting money. You, call the cops, give him what he asks for, then let the cops sort it, OUTSIDE the bank.

They US Govt needs to know what you are doing with your cash if you try to import/export more than $10k in cash in/out of this country.

If you are caught walking down the street with $100k cash in your pockets your money will be seized until the authorities figure out how you came into such amount of cash.

Authorities have the right to seize the money if they believe it was involved with or the product of criminal activity. If you are just a random individual walking down the street with that amount of money and not on the police radar, an officer seizing the money is overstepping his boundaries. Not that it doesn't or won't happen, but its not legal.

While I felt much the same way (and I mean he's signed to Yo Gotti) I perused his IG... He's got shows (2-3) every weekend in random clubs in southern states.. It's pretty reasonable to assume he can amass a couple hunnid thousand off that alone...

CDs never MADE the big bucks like that.. getting 10k per show on 3 weekend nights is what you want..

Yea I mean even if its only 5k as long as he works every weekend he'll hit that shit..

He's got some videos with over a million views so its plausible..

I just dont want to assume he's a dope boy fronting as a rapper..

or the person being stripped to their wife beater and handcuffed while laying on the sidewalk?

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

reaction when they got there would probably be different if he was an older, White male.

I'm not even mad at the Police being called, I understand that he might need to be questioned, that doesn't mean they have to draw weapons/throw him on the ground and handcuffed

This isn't the first or last time someone withdrew a lot of cash. They typically don't lead to handcuffs
