Good performances. Smith's subtlety helps off-set the hugely unsubtle script. It falls victim to the same problems most biopics have-- relationships are given the bare minimum of screen time in order to ensure they make it through the checklist of Important Life Moments. It'd have been nice if the character was less of a saint, and if they'd spent a little more time fleshing out some of the arguments by the NFL... but that would be outside of the film's agenda, which is to paint the simplest version of the argument for a mass audience. And they do that well enough.

But the NFL awarded medical benefits to Mike Webster and put in writing that his brain injuries were due to playing football. It's essentially the smoking gun with this entire situation.

Mike Webster and other Steelers from that early 70's dynasty.
I remember the news of these guys deaths on local tv and Websters family shitting on the NFL for neglecting his concussion issues before and after his death.
Will also had some dope lines in this movie.
I wouldnt see it in the theatre tho...
