You asked if he thought they would really allow the president to be put in danger.

I asked what that has to do with whether or not it was a good episode.

Clearly, he was of the opinion that it was a bad episode. The question about Obama being placed in danger is completely immaterial to his opinion of the quality of the episode.

Why? Precisely because the president would never be put into any remotely dangerous situation.

That's what the ENTIRE SHOW IS ABOUT - taking people you know from culture and placing them into dangerous adventures. (The more incongruity the better - like taking Bobby Monyahan and having him repel into a live volcano for some reason.)

So the show should not have had an episode based around Obama.

There was so little content in the show - basically Bears freaking out to meet Obama, then they take a stroll and talk about global warming -- that took 50 minutes.

Maybe they could have had Jeff Garland and Bear hiking the glacier and have them get down to the bottom 15 minutes faster than normal where Obama is waiting to talk to them about global warming. Better episode, IMHO.

So again I'm a fan of Obama, a fan of the show, but did not like this episode.

(And I like Spade's work a lot of the time.)

I've had one significant life event after another so business never really got off the ground. I helped try to unionize my workplace, failed, my wife got pregnant, we thought we lost the baby for a minute, actually had the baby, wife got a promotion that dramatically increased our commute time, had some significant issues at my job for awhile, fought that fight and won, transferred to offices, then wound up selling our home, buying a new home, lost my domain name during that time, got it back, and now things appear to be finely, mercifully, settling down a bit. We now have a long ass commute again though.

So, it got pushed down the priority totem pole to deal with more important immediate circumstances. Now that things seem to be much more steady and my son is older and on a more reliable schedule, lord willing I'll be able to hammer out the last few wrinkles by around March. My track record says not likely but who knows.

He even says himself in the article: "It's just a new world. I'm not used to it. It just seems a bit thirsty for me, that's all."

I don't think Obama's like, "Wooo! Time to go do a press junket! AWESOME" cause nobody does that; any article from any famous musician/actor and they hate that shit. Its now a part of the job, shit Hilary Clinton just did a podcast with a former OKP a few weeks ago.

That said, I think his reasons for hitting the streets hard are different then just keeping in touch with his base, which is why he's ramping it up on the way out. but that's another topic.

This shit is a BLATANT commercial for Climate Change,dude even whipped out the presidential voice half way through for a speech on it. Its a shitty 'regular people in the wilderness' show, not Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Its why I get confused with the myopic 'He's thirsty' as if he's Ne Ne Leaks when shit like this are obvious political ploys.

Keep in mind a two years ago the dems were purposely trying to distance themselves from him since was seen as poisoned fruit; dudes trying to secure his legacy from history books that are going to be confused as fuck as to how to portray him all things considered.

All that other lip wrasslin can go.
