"what's your favorite tool?"

handheld powerdrills were my favorite for a while.

the shit could screw, drill holes of all sizes, fish a snake - and it sounds cool as shit.

...

now i think im a fan of the ratchet wrench.

it has such a satisfying tactile interaction.

... i have yet to play with a nail gun. them shits seem like they can get some real work done.

you got a favorite?

but on the real... the hammer

If you fix things long enough, sooner or later you're gonna need a hammer. I don't care if you fix watches. One day you gone need a hammer

Something really satisfying about drilling in the screw without stripping the head. Or hitting the nail in perfectly with an old fashioned hammer.

Its some primal man shit idk

I don't get the same feeling, oddly enough, from a nail gun though. That feels like cheating.

Gotta hit it at the right angle

And drilling it without messing up the screw head. Still a bit of handy work involved. Obviously not as much as using an old school screwdriver

I feel like with a nail gun you just point and click. They're fun and convenient for sure. But we r talking tools here ; any old broad could do use a nail gun. Power drill takes a bit more practice

i feel like a couple wacks be too much in the middle of night, when oddly, i want to get work done.

but wacking is rude.

i figure a nail gun is a one and done.

but then there's the compression machine.

hmmm.

You can use them to get into really tight spaces & work without being bulky or too wimpy for whatever job your doing.

I've used them for plumbing to stripping wires

for its ability to remove stripped screws, even better/moreso than a hand drill.

Really do like the hand-drill/hole saw combo though.

I have a screwdriver set that has multiple attachments -- phillips, flathead bits in different sizes (incl. #0) but also torx and some other uncommon bits. Also has a ratchet attachment & ratchet bits (metric and inch). I have encountered very few things I can't disassemble w/ that set.

Putting them back together on the other hand

In terms of "most fun" probably my circular saw, but I hardly use it anymore.

peace

It feels so good when you can't budge something using a regular wrench with all your might, then you come with the breaker bar and loosen it with your pinky. Because leverage.
