"Poll question: is Stephen Curry about to become one of the 50 Greatest NBA Players ..."

i have seen alot of basketball but ain't seen a cat at guard quite like Steph, he got wheels, handles and he got these turkeys Scurred.

he owning the league right now despite Lebron and KD getting placed ahead and everybody riding for Anthony Davis.

but Steph is on a mission and you can tell
and nobody shots, and turns as quick as he does and he keeps it moving.

is it too soon to consider him one of the very very best ever?

he already arguably considered the Greatest Shooter ever by quite a few.where you come down Steph?

Poll result (15 votes)
Yeah (15 votes)Vote
naw but close (0 votes)Vote
man its close already (0 votes)Vote
he is scary (0 votes)Vote

Meaning they're gonna honor the 25 greatest players since 1996. And I feel he might be able to grab a spot.

Kobe, Lebron, AI, Duncan, Steve Nash (because of MVPs), Dirk, maybe Dwyane Wade, Gary Payton, and several others will be on that list for sure. I figure Durant and Steph will be solidified by then.

They actually put Shaq on that original list prematurely after only four years with no rings or MVPs, but they just KNEW he would earn that spot, which he did. Still, imagine if he had got hurt in 97 and never played again.

Too many old timey white dudes. 40% of the players on the 50 Greatest Players List either voted on the list or had a teammate who voted on the list. You will never convince me that the 4th option on the '64 Celtics (I just made that up) is a better basketball player than say, Baron Davis.

So even if a 3rd or 4th option for the Celtics would be "rated lower on 2K" than Baron Davis or even a Lamar Odom, due to skills and all...it's more about what they accomplished, how high they were ranked at the time, what their averages were, and all of that.

Basically, we know Lamar, Baron, Elton Brand would be like Top 3 in the league in the 50's or 60's...but because they weren't ever Top 3 in their era, they wouldn't get the nod over them. So I can get that.

I’ve been reading those couple of comments along the lines of an assumption that some people are going to be clutching their pearls at the mere notion that he’s about to enter that elite category.

Frankly, I agree. A lot of dudes in the office have said he’s still not there, he has too much help, if he can’t shoot he’s useless, not as good as *insert whatever guards they grew up watching*.
I don’t think BW thinks it’s awkward, but plenty of people probably will.

Also it's crazy how many guys have put themselves in the running in 25 years. They may actually have to take some dudes OFF the original list. Shaq was already on there but check out this list of guys who I think will 100% be on the NBA @75 List:

Dirk
KG
Kobe
Steph
Pierce
AI
Nash
LeBron
Wade
TMac
Duncan
Ray Ray
CP3
Kidd
GP

Then you have a lot of strong arguables such as
Yao
D12
Brow
Manu
T5T
Melo
Bosh
A Gasol or two
Grant Hill
Kawhi
Harden
Webber

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Howard and Harden both have strong chances at a minimum. Plus there's already 15 locks to add, none of which I think you can dispute.

both of them

Harden just became an elite player just *2* seasons ago and Howard doesn't make the cut-off...he's simply not a GREAT player and he certainly isn't 1 of the 75 greatest to ever play

we're not making the list *RIGHT TODAY* and even if he were howard would probably make it (though i dont think i'd put him there), we're talking about it in a few years when they put together the team.

and i agree that there are some players who were left off that should not have been (e.g. bob mcadoo) but what i am trying to say is that there may or may not be room to look at those guys. you've got the original 50 plus 15 locks, that's 65, and there is still more time for guys to distinguish themselves. and FOH that anthony davis has "no chance," he just needs to keep on keepin' on and yes he will be there, same for harden, and howard may already have done about enough. that would push the list to 18, seven spots left, and about as many years until they pick the team. i didn't even mention guys who are all potential at this point like wiggins but in that time span, sure, he may also be in the conversation.

It will be debatable if Howard will be a 1st ballot HOFer

I'm not sure he's more deserving than someone like ZO to be included on such a list

And even if you're pronecting Howard still doesn't belong because its clear he's not the same player he was in Orlando...so it ain't like he's going to get better as he's getting older

And it is still too premature to be thinking of Harden as an all-time great when he hasn't even played at an elite level for 5 yrs lol...you probably would've said the same abt D Rose 5 yrs ago and look at him now

I'd take Sid Moncrief over Harden

Manu? Love em to death but there ain't no "strong case" for on anyone's 75 greatest players list lol

AD is already injury prone...has yet to play one FULL SEASON and he"s young

>It will be debatable if Howard will be a 1st ballot HOFer

So? Lots of guys on the list weren't. And again, he is one *very* possible one in addition to 15 locks and a handful of guys that could emerge. I think they missed 8-10 guys on the first list. This is about whether or not they will revisit those guys, and if so if they will go on in favor of some marginal selections from the first list (e.g. dumars, arizin).

>I'm not sure he's more deserving than someone like ZO to be
>included on such a list

I thought about him, I'd say he is on the second list of possibles, definitely not a lock.

>And even if you're pronecting Howard still doesn't belong
>because its clear he's not the same player he was in
>Orlando...so it ain't like he's going to get better as he's
>getting older

No but he was a huge star there and he remains an important player. So if he has another say five seasons like this it would be hard to keep him off.

>And it is still too premature to be thinking of Harden as an
>all-time great when he hasn't even played at an elite level
>for 5 yrs lol...you probably would've said the same abt D Rose
>5 yrs ago and look at him now

Again, that's why he is a potential selection and not a lock.

>I'd take Sid Moncrief over Harden

LOL, I kinda hate Harden and I don't think I'd go that far. Moncrief was a good player. I think the biggest omissions were McAdoo, King and Dantley. I forgot about Wilkins being omitted so yeah he definitely should go on also.

>Manu? Love em to death but there ain't no "strong case" for on
>anyone's 75 greatest players list lol
>
>AD is already injury prone...has yet to play one FULL SEASON
>and he"s young

he has yet to have any sort of serious or chronic injury, so i'm not going to speculate. that's a (very small) part of why he is a potential selection and not a lock

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Youre really reaching this morning on some "what ifs". Stepehn curys got another 7-8 years in the league and Jamiroquais first album was in 1993.

there's been plenty of players with a good 2-3 year stretch that wouldn't sniff 50 best.

But so far he's unstoppable.

Although I would like to see what Steph would look like dragging a bunch of bums night in and night out a la Iverson or Kobe in those in-between Phil years

Steph is one of a handful of players I would courtside tickets to see..and he's at the top of the list

before we start entertaining this question

The NBA path is littered w/players whose trajectory was headed towards greatness but (mainly) injuries derailed their careers

Right now some don't even consider Steph the best player at his position (Westbrook and I personally still like CP3 as a more traditional and all-around PG)

besides Conley.

I'm not takin nothin away from him but he never really had a match up during their run, this season we gonna see for real.

Also, you seen Draymond bodyin pgs so they can't switch?! That's the real heart of the team!

And Klay is a better defender than shooter, ga damn it!

We've seen a couple of players shine insanely brightly-- Grant and Penny, to name two-- just to watch injuries cut their careers short. Rose could possibly be part of that club too, sadly, depending how the next couple of years play out.

Curry needs to stay healthy to make the list. That's about it.

playmaker. Zeke = Better driver, fast breaker, and better playmaker.

Steph's surely a better scorer than the others are.
