Not sure how people can have discussions if folks get irrationally bent out of shape over phrasing. Guess that's one of the many reasons why things are still a mess and likely always ways will be.

Here's something equally terrible -- in my questioning of "Why does it seem to appear that among black children in public schools (primarily) there's this refusal in the face of authority to the point of self endangerment?"
I ultimately realized something -- this young girl who had lost her parents and perhaps even a stable home life maybe felt like she had no control over much if anything in her life and perhaps this cell phone was to her one of the few things she felt she could control. She could respond to who she felt like when she felt like, organize her schedule, etc. whenever she wanted.
Then comes the teacher trying to take that from her and of course she refuses and then the admin and then Officer Slam. Perhaps this girl is refusing to let anyone take something from her again no matter what? I don't know, I'm no child psychologist, but whatever the case was we know she was going through some serious stuff and it's likely it affected her decision making and maybe her personal relationships and that's easily understandable.
Now looking at my own experience which is all I was referring to in my own question; perhaps it's just as likely that the kids I've dealt with also had a lot going on in their lives and were acting out from a similar place? And perhaps sadly, the ratio of kids dealing with heavy personal issues outside of school is highest among those of us classified as black (in relation to our population)? I don't have the exact numbers on that, but if I'm wrong someone will surely correct me.
I was right out of school when I was in the classroom and certainly didn't see things that way, but I can see them that way now and going forward when I hear someone ask a similar question I can say "you know -- perhaps a lot of these kids are dealing with issues at home? And what they need is understanding." How true that is I don't know, but I think it's a safe statement and I wouldn't have come to that conclusion had I not asked an apparently dangerous question that wasn't about ***** girls at, but all about our kids. So in hindsight sorry folks for being such a terrible poster, but not for asking questions people don't like.
Tl;dr Questions can reveal answers and I'm the worst poster ever so where's my trophy?
