Where we named a celeb (or OKP) and people voted whether they were light or not. That shit was all over the place, but the one thing I noticed was that the more universally beloved the person, the LESS likely OKPs were to think of them as light-skinned.

My father and his brothers used to be high yellow but now have permanently tanned faces and pale bodies (like Obama) while the sisters are still light.

Sometimes people call me light and my reaction is always very perplexed. Light is when you're outright yellow, through and through, which I'm definitely not.
But then again, Jill Scott had a commercial years ago talking about she got teased when she was a kid for being light skinned, which is utterly ridiculous, so I can't call it.

Niggas in Ghana called me lightskinnded. But that's bc they were mostly blue-black over there so I was lighter than them. Over here I'm medium complected.

meaning the whole thing is irrelevant since there is no true standard . Only if you put it on a scale of "very brown" to "very little" or "no brown" can there be any kind of standard and that's kind of ridiculous.

I notice my darker cousins calling me light and I'm kinda in the middle brown. I call my wife lighter (mostly in jest) but she's a tad lighter than me.

I've never seen or known anyone but lightskinned folks to get sunburn. Used to be out in the sun for hours playing ball in July and barely got darker, yet seent some lite-brite jawns come back peeling after going to six flags for the day.
we now recognized folks with melanin get sunburned
