"The NY Bamma"

That "Paid in Full on Ice" thing got me thinking. There's NY niggas that legitimately fit that description. By has a bunch of bammas who don't know they're bammas because they're so NYC. What are some hallmarks of the NY Bamma? Who are some examples? Where are their enclaves?

Papoose is the first person to come to mind. If you had an Avirex, you might be a NY Bamma. If you still fux wit (Dallas) BBQ, you're probably one.

Attended PS 145, JHS 54 and Bronx Science. As a kid, I also lived in Washington a Heights and Kew Gardens. My mom sent me to live with my pops in VA in HS because I was getting trouble. Moved back after HS, lived in Sunnyside and Ft Greene, went to Hunter. Joined Army. Moved back lived in Ft Greene and on the LES. I don't do that claim a boro thing, but if I did, it would be Manhattan. Brooklyn felt like home because that's where I first made my life as an adult, but I don't have enough years to claim it.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

I would change the had to currently have. Would be completely weird to see someone rocking those Quadruple Extra Large leather jackets in 2015. Imagine if those jackets actually came back in style similar to how 8-Ball jackets came back in style years ago.

I do wonder what folks did with those jackets since you can't wear them currently. Did folks just donate them to the Salvation Army? From what I remember, those jackets cost a pretty penny.

I'd be mad because I'm assuming those jackets cost a ton. Then again, there's nothing you could do with it now but point and laugh, so I guess that anger would be misplaced.

Especially Gallery Place.

That post I made was an attempt at me tryna understand go-go. I wanted to get why the wave was so strong wit the older crowd but not the youngins & what was it that keeps yall captivated wit the sound.

I went to the Face show for Face. I enjoy the energy of the live shows when I catch them at Cabarets and other small spots.

I'm still on the fence though, I think it's those mixes that they do in the club that really has me scratching my head sometimes.

I've walked past that neon sign multiple times in the Village and all this time I assumed that was a Dallas BBQ's sign.

Learn something new everyday.

Was that the BBQ's that had an alleged hate crime some months back? There was video footage of a big brolic Common on Bane Juice/steroids hitting someone with a chair from what I remember.

I agree with you on the trendy long lines thing. I was hype about the restaurant at first, but having to stand outdoors on a long line for fast food fried chicken doesn't sound like a wise investment of time or money.

In regards to cronuts, I think the Dominique Ansel dude either stopped making them or gave up the recipe after a while. That was insane that folks stood in line three to fours hours for a food that probably takes 15-30 seconds to finish eating and probably isn't that filling.

Even though she ain't the most hood ass chick in the world, she says "SON" every fucking five minutes along with "MY NIGGA" like it's going out of style.

She also does the fist pound into the hand shit and stay trying to shit on all things DC while living here every five mintues too.

Her brothers, when they come visit, are the most prototypical New York hard accent and loosie buying ass niggas and are LOUD AS FUCK. This could also be a Jamaican New York thing because my nigga from Long Island ain't this annoying.

like my lil cousin this past summer who vowed he would not drink ANY liquor during our weeklong vacay b/c none of the bars carried any the 5 types of liquor 'everyone drinks' in NYC. or b/c the bartender couldn't make any of the specialty cocktails he 'always drinks' in NYC.

the way he kept going on about it i suspect w/in NYC he's something of a scrub. if he were actually cool w/the in crowd and the cool-kids he wouldn't need to crow about it so much. also, he'd be able to adapt to a new, strange environment. especially one that serves booze.

plus, the nigga is from suburban Colorado. he's only lived in NYC for like 5 yrs.

fuck you.

imo most bammas wear 10-15 year old fashions with confidence...

so if you idea of an "outfit" includes a tall tee and ironed roc-a-wear jeans with birdman lug boots...

But for the most part, people who grew up with the internet have a broader world view and fewer regional signifiers. Most NY bammas will be 35 or older. The lone exception being niggas that did bids.
