"2015 Triumph Awards - Who saw it?" Mon Oct-05-15 06:14 AM by Boogie Stimuli
All of the honors were well-deserved, and I like that Wanda said it's special to get something from her own people... which really coincided with the foundation she was promoting.
But about these performances...
Of Course Tasha Cobbs showed out. Of course.
Tyrese killed it, as expected
Estelle was decent.
Ledisi killed it, as expected
Stokely and Chante were not the two to be singing that song together.
I really wish they'd have had Jazmine sing another song too, because while the song she sang is dope, it didn't showcase her talent much at all. DESPITE that, she put that stank on it and made it hot... that's just what my girl do! Hell I'd rather have heard her singing "Someday We'll All Be Free" with Stokely tho. That would have really worked with the way she likes to use her lower register.
But Tichina Arnold at the end tho. Good lawd, that woman KNOW she can sang!!! I remember her on singing on Martin one time, but damnnn... she sounds like a fucking goddess with all the terrible singing that passes for good these days. MAN! She makes so many singers with albums out sound like amateurs.
And OF COURSE The Robert Glasper Experience did the damn thing backing everybody up.
>BET and Soul Train's multiple awards shows, NAACP Image >awards, Trumpet Awards, Black Girls Rock...etc...etc.
It's a beautiful thang, ain't it?
>We love giving each other awards.
As we should. We've been through a lot, and we continue to accomplish a lot.
>Who's giving this one out?
It aired on TV1, and has been on a few times. The awards are given to people who are doing positive things in the community. Reverend Joseph Lowery was honored, for instance. Wanda Sykes was honored for her work with the Ruth Ellis Center, mainly, etc
