I'm trying to put together context clues and it ain't happening.
How do they work? 2-way as opposed to 3-way? 4-way?

So you could only receive messages on them. Someone would call your pager, they could give you a coded message (i.e. 911- emergency, call right away), and then you'd go to a phone and call that person at the number that showed up on your pager.

Two-ways were texting before texting. You could send and receive messages from them. Hence the name.

I never had a pager, so I didn't know you actually had to acknowledge the shit to get it to stop buzzing. My cousin's was going off for minutes before I stopped assuming it would stop on its' own.
