in my last apartment i regularly paid on like the 10th or whatever b/c the landlord never tripped about the date. but then a new owner came in w/a new policy - eviction notices go out on the 6th no matter what. i got hit w/one of those after having lived in the bldg for 7 yrs. that time it happened i had been laid-off by surprise and so i was having some money trouble. they came at me like that and i was fucking LIVID. i was already ready to bounce but that sealed it. i didn't renew my lease when it came up a couple months after we'd resolved the situation (they w/drew the eviction action w/o me even appearing in court).

With my mortgage, I pay on the first. I have fallen behind to the second on those rare times where I had forgotten to make the payment on the first. I recently had some money issues and had to work with the bank regarding loan mods and other payment options but then I was able to get some extra money and instead of going with the partial deferment the bank offered, I caught the bill up (thank God) and am back on point. 'Mattafact, I just got through paying that mugg. By the way, I thought the 15th was the last day you can pay before getting hit with a late charge?

I get paid on the 15th and the last day of the month. Most times I pay it immechily on the 1st...but sometimes when shit gets rugged...I'll let it ride til the 15th.

>how you usually do it?
Every 30 days and is scheduled to arrive before the 2nd or 3rd. I assume my bank gives a few extra days and it gets there by the 1st if things go smoothly and the third if mail is delayed.

But, I have until the 15th of the month to pay w/o getting a late charge. But, if I pay my mortgage during the first week of the month, then I will send the payment via priority mail. I also pay my HOA fees around the same time.

I always hand the rent check to a person, so it depends on when I can swing by the place. I'm paranoid as hell and don't trust mailing it, even though I'm sure that would never be an issue.
