All the stuff we tend to be ashamed of exists in their populations too. So, we need to stop treating them like they're special. The more we buy into the idea of, what I like to call, "model negro behavior", the more we're trapped by it. When white people do embarrassing things, they don't attribute it to their race, but we do that consistently, good or bad.
We all know a huge component of white privilege is not even considering race. Sometimes, when things pop up we attribute it to race before they do, because we're so obsessed with what they think.
Case in point, comedians in dresses. Jimmy Fallon, Zac Efron, Seth Rogen, Will Farrell and countless other white comedians have done it and they're just seen as comedians being silly. Let any black comedian get in a dress and it's a conspiracy to emasculate the black man. A lot of times, we take that ish way too far. It's understandable, because of our conditioning and dehumanization in this society. At a certain point, you have to just move from an assumed position of equality. http://soundcloud.com/forestbrooks
