One of my friends w/ a disability said the following, and I just had to share with everyone.
"Success...my definition of it changes daily. Sometimes it's as simple as sitting up in bed, struggling to get t-shirt over head, showering and exiting without slipping...scratch that, many days. Smaller increments help mold my gratitude for being and hold in higher esteem this form I've shown up in."

... but I generally equate personal success with contentment. When I look back over periods where I consider myself (or was considered by my peers and family) as successful, three things seem to be consistent:

Artist that sells 100 EPs a week for 10 years is successful in music terms because he/she has a dedicated fanbase that supports their music.
Individual working a 9-5 or doing the overnight grind is successful because they are saving up to move somewhere or buy something that enables them to better themselves.
As long as you're taking steps to improve in something somehow despite the odds then you are a success. Don't let anybody tell you different.

I'm not gonna lie and say it doesn't include material things like a nice, comfortable home, travel and the ability to have my simple splurges. However, the older I get, the more emphasis I'm starting to place on actually having time to enjoy life. So, it's kind of split between achieving my goals and having the time to enjoy my achievements. I guess success is all about finding the right balance in life for me.
