"what's worse for you? processed carbs or processed meat?"

By processed meat I mean the hormoned/medicated/cloned shit they sell at fast food chains and Walmart

like if you were at Moe's, what's better? a rice, beans and guacamole bowl? or meat, vegetables and guacamole bowl?

And how they're processed. There's a huge side range.

Also who you are. Some women can be very sensitive to the hormones in meat and dairy. I'm not vegetarian but don't have meat or dairy most days for these reasons.

i'm stuck in bed for 1-3 days a month. I have cramps, pain, and vomiting where i can't eat, can't drink, can't have a bowel movement. i can't even hold down painkillers so there's really no relief and i'm dehydrated and hungry and in pain and miserable..

eating a raw fruit and vegetable centered diet with little meat or bad fat, i don't have any of these problems. i can usually take an oxy and sleep a few hours through fairly normal cramps because i'm self employed and can. some days i'll work. i lose half a day a month maybe vs almost a week of feeling terrible.

I'm not strict about it, i had taco bell the other night coming home from a concert this weekend. last week i had a hot dog at a barbecue. but if i get really lax and eat like that regularly i feel it. The anti inflammatory diet - almost dairy free diet - also helps with my skin and allergies.

Why?

Because they contain dead plasma, often comprised of 50 or more cows/chicken/pig from 5 different countries, that have been processed and shelved somewhere in a China factory for 50 years with nan regulation or concern for human health (let alone animal health).

we gotta do better.

It's still meat. Why should we care where it came from? People will complain about the environmental costs of transportation, but that doesn't seem to be what's bothering people here. Vex seems to be making (naive) insinuations about food safety regulations, but whatever regulation there may be in cases like this, there's no evidence that it has ever resulted in anything unsafe.

Processes. Was it ikea that was selling Swedish meatballs made of horse meat? Or was it dog meat from china? Who knows what's in that stuff. It doesn't matter though if you don't care if you're eating rat or dog or cat or road kill.

They putting this shit together on some bastards of voltron shit - different meats, cut at different time, frozen, thawed, preserved, all to throw in a grinder, coagulate then squeeze in a plastic container and get that shit to you w/about a week's worth of shelf life left.

It's not a good way to preserve nutrients.

"We can confirm that the contents of the meatballs follow the IKEA recipe and contain only beef and pork from animals raised in the U.S. and Canada," Liss said in a statement to NBC News. "All beef and pork from the U.S. and Canada must comply with USDA guidelines."

"U.S. Department of Agriculture officials also told NBC News that it's highly unlikely that beef or pork adulterated with horse meat will make it into the nation's food supply. Strict labeling and inspection requirements are aimed at making sure all meats are what they say they are. "

And if there wasn't any negative stuff in either food, all things being equal the nonmeat is likely healthier for u on average

Even if u are taking abt healthy in the short term, like weight gain, ¬ like cancer, diabetes lifetime affects

no food or health expert here and I eat meat all the time, mostly bc of convenience

all this "hormone" talk is beyond foolish. only approved hormones given to livestock is rBGH (recombinant BOVINE growth hormone) given to milk cows to help them produce more milk. even if there was other hormones given to cows it wouldn't effect you at all ... BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT A COW!!! they've proven for decades (since like the 1940's or 50's) that giving chickens, cows and pigs hormones in effort to make them grown larger doesn't even work so what would be the point. so why do we still believe in this idea that livestock meat is somehow full of hormones?

as far as antibiotics animals get sick just like humans do. when they get sick, they give them hormones to get better. it's well documented that sick animals given antibiotics are separated out from the rest of the animals until they are better. when no more antibiotics are detected in their system, they go back into the rest of the livestock. if your seriously think "organic" farms just let their livestock get sick and let them suffer without giving them antibiotics that could help them get better, you're delusional (and i'm pretty sure that's against the law). let's forget the fact that you're willing to believe that these antibiotics could survive not only the animals death, processing and COOKING to somehow have an effect on you.

i don't even know what cloned meat is, but ok.

hormones occur naturally in these animals, in addition to the supplemented ones. high levels of meat consumption and low levels of veg consumption are associated with increases in obesity, disease, mortality etc etc.

>as far as antibiotics animals get sick just like humans do.

i think you mean antibiotics. .

you should read up on this because it's the normal factory farming process to put antibiotics in all feed for all the animals whether they're sick or not. if you enjoy eating and you feel great that's great. different strokes for different folks.

hormones occur naturally in all animals, what's your point?. no one is talking about high levels of meat consumption. stay on topic.

>i think you mean antibiotics. .

yes that is what i meant, thank you.

>you feel great that's great. different strokes for different

i love how people assume the other person hasn't "read up" on a topic they disagree with them on. anyway, do you have any reliable sources for this statement? while you find that here's an actual farmer in her own words explaining how antibiotics in meat works ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TzHQtixOhw

and more detailed information from another farmer about antibiotic use and regulation ... http://www.mnfarmliving.com/?s=Antibiotics

more information from the American Meat Institute ... https://www.meatinstitute.org/index.php?ht=a/GetDocumentAction/i/56994

In response to Reply # 17

In lieu of good hygiene is just a google-able fact you can read about.

Maybe try reading if you cannot find this info with 3/4 YouTube videos of farmers.

I like how people say they read and then post up videos.

But this being reality, isn't up for discussion or debate anymore than the earth being round.

it's not my job to prove your point for you. i just posted one video and the other two links i posted were articles that you can read for yourself. not really sure what your issue is there. would your prefer that i copy & paste the text into my post?

i gave sources to back up what i was saying and you responded by saying that i'm too lazy to Google YOUR points and i don't like to read. interesting.

there's no evidence that any hormones in food producing animals (naturally occurring or synthetic) cause harm to humans who consume those animal products. if you have any credible evidence I'd love to see it.

the process for giving antibiotics to animals that produce food is tested pretty thoroughly. again, if you have credible evidence that is not the case, I'd love to hear about it.

In response to Reply # 27

I am not talking about my beliefs, I'm talking about YOUR beliefs. namely that any of this is somehow bad or unhealthy for you.

as far as clones, by all accounts cloned animals have been used primarily for breeding and not for meat (or milk). so please enlighten me on who is making and/or selling cloned meat to eat. I'd love to learn about that. and before you get slick and tell me to go look it up, here's some info if you care to read it (mini swipe)...

"Today there are about 600 animal clones—mostly beef cattle. And it’s
unlikely that they will be headed to market soon—or possibly ever. They’re too expensive to produce. Instead, they are being used for breeding stock—to transmit their exceptional qualities to their offspring." from 2008 (http://www.aphis.usda.gov/newsroom/speeches/content/2008/03/Biotech_Comm_final_3-5-08.pdf)

43. "Cloned meat has been on the market for years."
In response to Reply # 28

you might want to update your research from nearly a decade ago.

From the corrupted FDA:

"On December 28 2006, the United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA) gave preliminary approval for meat and dairy products from cloned animals to be sold as food for human use with the exception of sheep, due to limited data on sheep cloning."

Later - in 2008, the FDA was forced to admit that "cloned meat may already be in the food supply."

After the FDA'S approval, conscious consumers compelled many diff. companies to make it known whether or not they were selling cloned meat. Whole Foods - for example - has banned cloned meat from its shelves due to health and ethical concerns:

http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/mission-values/environmental-stewardship/cloned-meat-qa

The EU is moving towards banning cloned meat due to health, safety and ethical concerns:

http://time.com/3720420/cloned-meat-europe/
http://www.politico.eu/article/commission-resubmits-cloned-meat-ban/

It's actually not surprising that you didn't realize cloned meat was in existence, because corporate interests have succeeded in operating from the shadows when producing these products, just as they do when producing and marketing GMOs. The U.S. is one of the few developed nations in the world to not force companies to disclose whether their products contain cloned meat and/or GMOs. Producers of these food products do not want the consumer to know, which is dangerous because the science is contentious and controversial as it pertains to the safety of these products. Consumers have the right to know what they are putting in their bodies.

If you want to eat cloned meat and GMOs, go for it - but people deserve to know and the products should be labeled accordingly.

you've literally just shown that cloned animals exist which has been known for some time. what you did not show is any evidence that anyone actively uses cloned animals for meat. just because the FDA "gave preliminary approval" doesn't mean it's on the market. just because Whole Foods or anyone else puts out a ban on something, doesn't mean it's on the market. it's been established that it's so expensive that it's doesn't make a lot of sense to clone animals for meat. they primarily use them for breeding. from the Whole Foods link that YOU just posted ...

"Will cloned meat and milk soon be on the market?

Since it is so expensive to clone an animal, meat or milk products would most likely come from the offspring of the cloned animal (the progeny) of cloned animals rather than the cloned animal itself. Although the progeny themselves are not called clones, they are derived from sexual reproduction that has at least one parent as a clone."

AND from the second paragraph of the Politico article you posted...

"...cloning is not yet being used for food production."

so basically Whole Foods put out a ban on something that they themselves are not even sure is going to be coming to market. they just know that they can draw in you scary conspiracy types who are afraid of the word CLONE by saying they're against it. you're creating an issue that's not even an issue. you have ZERO evidence that there's anything wrong or harmful here. can you seriously tell me what the difference is between artificially inseminating a cow and placing an embryo into a surrogate cow? how is one of those things ok and the other dangerous?

at some point in your life some thing is going to kill you. and that will be the end of your life.

watch what you eat so that you feel good until that thing kills you. maybe try and stick to foods that don't make you feel like hell after you eat them.

which of those Moe's options makes you feel best after you eat it? eat that one most often.

which of those Moe's option is most pleasurable w/o regard for how you feel after eating it? if that most pleasurable option makes you feel worse than the other option then choose that most pleasurable option less often.

it's not terribly difficult, really.

fuck you.
