"UNSUNG: Chuck Brown & Go-Go (June 24, 2015)" Wed Jun-24-15 12:07 PM by -DJ R-Tistic-
I'm definitely tuning in tonight.
I think Go-Go is the most fascinating Regional/local style of music that we have out there. The thing about it is that certain songs are so dope, you can play it for a whole crowd of folks who are unfamiliar, and they'll still get into it. No way to deny how funky the drums are, and the whole energy is just great.
At the same time, most people who are only a slight bit familiar claim to hate Go-Go, because they usually hear the wrong songs. I even feel like most songs that the young folks like are the least translatable to people who aren't fans. I definitely don't much of the Bounce Beat Go-Go that's out there.

But yeah, I notice that the youngsters in DC have their own sound and style that they are into. Almost like with Hip Hop too...the young folks don't like the Old School Go-Go as much from E.U. and Northeast Groovers, while the older heads don't care much for the new sound. Some of the new shit is just noise.
