I would post this in organix but GD is way more active
here goes:
I've cut down my drinking to weekends if that and its been about 3 weeks so far and I noticed that my drinkers gut has shrunk by a noticeable amount. I didnt think my drinking was out of control, I just did it a lot and I was bored with it really. I might crack that cask again come winter but for now I'm trying to be good.
So here is my question
I have been weighing myself from time to time and I still weigh the same amount but I no longer have dad beer belly (6'3", 210)
whats going on here? Is it just too soon and the lack of gut just means I'm not bloated because I'm not as dehydrated as much?
BTW, Kratom use has really helped a lot. Instead of routinely killing a bottle of wine or a six I just have a small amount of kratom some nights and drink seltzer water and I end up waking up the next day feeling refreshed as hell.
BTW #2 I have realized that its still fun to go to bars and drink nothing. Or if I do drink something its a soda and bitters, the energy of being around people getting it in in turn makes me feel kind of buzzed even if I just have water.
7. "Have you ever used opiates?" In response to Reply # 3 Mon Jun-08-15 04:25 PM by denny
Percocets? Codeine? Oxy?
Not trying to be all Nancy Reagan....but I'm seeing that Kratom is basically an opium high with very similar withdrawal symptoms. In addition to there being very little studies done thus far.
I'll just say this....the reason why opium is called 'the seductive drug' is because at first.....you do it and there's absolutely no hangover or adverse side effects. The typical novice oxy/perc user is like 'Shit....I feel perfectly fine the day after doing it'. It's such a common mistake and it's basically a cliche at NA meetings when specifically talking about opiates. The danger is that you don't recognize the adverse effects until it's already too late. And trust me....opiate withdrawals are worse than anything else. The wiki page says that Kratom withdrawal symptoms are diarrhea, runny nose, body aches.....that's pretty specific and EXACTLY what opiate withdrawals are like.
The other thing.....there's no 'safe amount' to take. In fact, with opiates it's the consistency of use that is more dangerous than the volume. Meaning....someone who takes a whole lot of an opiate for one day is better off than someone who takes just a little bit spread out over two weeks. It's unique in that way. Opiate users are actually better off/safer doing higher volumes with less frequency.
My apologies if I sound preachy. When it comes to drugs...I can be hyper-sensitive about people making decisions on the amount of stigma/taboo or lack thereof. More clearly, sometimes we take stuff not knowing that it's just as dangerous as something else that we wouldn't take for lack of knowledge. That's why the oxy craze swept throught the States so quickly. There wasn't a stigma. People wouldn't have gotten into it if they knew it was basically equivalent to heroin use.

I see it like Kava really. Chill in doses, respect it and it will respect you.
I also don't see it as some big party when I whip i out.
Time will tell. I'm just glad its made me reconsider drinking. Like, my desire/thirst for booze has gone down

I don't know about Kratom (I do wanna try it tho) but I know if I have a puff or two of green and a little liquor I get there SO much quicker that I don't need to drink as much and consequently I feel MUCH better the next day.
On the OTHER hand, I gotta be honest, I actually have more fun drinking, at least at the inception...

I see more as a quiet lil' downtime enhancement
some people treat it like that but its really just a chill out thing.
for some folks thats how weed works and for me weed was that thing but it really doesnt work for me like that, weed pulls too much of my attention when Im trying to sleep like, I end up listening to ALL the music and staying up late

does Kratom make you eat? Are you replacing beer with soda?
