as i get older, i find myself having less patience for things that only occur in cities, such as idiotic pedestrian traffic, rude or completely ignorant people, and the constant exposure to consumerism. consider yourself lucky that you are in a position in life where you can claim a little stake of land that is close enough, and far enough from a place you have easy access to. my intent is to get more and more out of the city as i get older, literally into a forest/lake or beach life.
as far as degradation of athleticism, i think as we get older its more and more important to try harder to eat and live well, and that is pretty much a constant effort. mostly, have to cut booze and junk food out, and cut down the amount of meat we consume significantly. i think with proper discipline and dedication you can remain athletic and vibrant throughout the majority of your life. i don't plan to be working after 45 and want to spend the next 12 years preparing for a good, simple life, surrounded with the things i truly value, and in that way, aging to me, is a sign of maturity and progress as opposed to somehow leaving "youth" behind, which is entirely based on and driven by arbitrary societal constraints. if you think it, you will experience it. ~Experience is the currency of the soul.
