I'm curious as to what each OKPer's handle means if anything. Mine is a nod to the beats I'd love to create and "dame" is from the fact that I'm a female.

My uncles all had daughters and no sons. My father had 3 girls. He thought he was never going to have a son either. Then almost 10 years later after my last sister was born, I was unexpectedly conceived when my father was 42 and my mother 40. So my father decided to include all his brothers in my name.

As much as people here accuse other people of having "aliases", my screen name is not in reference to not having an "alias" account.
I've been using the stage name "N/A (No Alias)" for 12 years now. At the time when I first switched my moniker (I was previously going by "Frush", short for "Frushtrated") I was tired of the name and being associated with frustration, and I didn't want to come up with another name that would be limiting to what I represent musically. I had liked the idea of being listed as "N/A" as an artist/producer name, and making it stand for No Alias, and that's what I've rolled with since then.
Nowadays, for Google and name recognition purposes (googling "N/A" brings up a bunch of results that aren't referring to me) and also because there is another beatmaker out there named No Alias, I'm straying away from that name and plan to go with something more distinctive. When I resurface with new music, I plan on going by Naj Ahead (the initials are still N/A...I don't want people who are familiar with my music to be too thrown off with the name change.) As a person who enjoys playing with words, I like the name and what it means.

I was playing with aliases around the time I was doing a funk/glam rock project back in the 90s. I lost my original login on here after a long break. So, I decided to reach back and use this.

When I became a moderator, I changed it to shockzilla as shockaliciousOK seemed a bit much even for me.
shockzilla has been described by me as a tribute to digital underground's humpty hump, combining 'shock g' and 'bootzilla' (the character of humpty hump being a tribute to bootsy collins)

my dad was called Legs because he walks with a limp from getting his leg crushed in the steel mill.
he called me legs diamond since birth... still does.
no one else but a few close friends call me that and I never appreciate it.

my friend that took the class with me didn't really grow up around jewish people. he would jokingly refer to anything mildly jewish as "kosher" the same way that suburban white kids refer to anything mildly black as "ghetto"
In the class, we were learning about Duke Ellington's band, and he had a trombone player named Joe "Tricky Sam" Nanton. We asked how come he was called Tricky Sam if his name was Joe. Professor said "well.... he was pretty damn tricky!"
Extending that logic, my friend started calling me KosherSam, and I kinda ran with it.

Buddy of mine's sister and her roommate were at a parade still drunk from the night before. Sister's roommate was wearing a skirt and sitting on the curb and across the street was a little kid dressed like Batman. Friend's sister says to the girl, "Hey.... Batman can see your nish." That story cracked the fuck outta me, so I stole the word when I was naming a ska band I tried to start in college, named "Captain Nish and the Piney All Stars." I was the frontman and was gonna go by "Capt. Nish."
