From the trailer Olsen looks like he is occupying the magical negro role, though the show looks fun and not as serious as the other DC projects. I give it a season.

as Johnny Storm, the racism surrounding Mechad Brooks being cast as Jimmy Olsen is far less intense. It helps that Olsen is a supporting character and Johnny Storm a co-lead.
Like MG said, most people's biggest issue is that he's an older, "sexier" interpretation.

So many who grew up with the Justice League cartoon and never read any of the DC Comics only knew John Stewart, not Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, or Kyle Rayner.

Nerds are going to lose their damn minds if black James Olsen has relations with Supergirl. Other than that, the pilot was great. Rushed everything but it was great nonetheless. We need an Arrow Supergirl teamup. At least give us a Flash Supergirl teamup.
This show has excellent strong female characters so MRAs around the country are going to be pissed.
