You know what I'm talking about. There seems to be an extra-emphasis on fresh cuts that I haven't seen since the late-80s, except now barbers seem to have 63 different types of fade.

How are you gonna just show off the decor but none of the product (outside of hair and beard care products)? The shops look nice but if I was their target customer, I'd probably avoid them because no one is showing off their cutting skills.

there were maybe 4 types of cuts being done, and most of them pretty basic. Now they're doing 11 different fades, designs are back. It's like 1990 again.

even now I think the majority of haircuts dudes that are into them are getting are slightly different and are more pointy to counteract the flatness of the hair texture.

to me the last few years LA brought it back the older haircuts and all these kids followed suit, including NBA rookies and shit....then that trickled to younger kids around other states and countries. Kendrick and certain guy sin TDE had a big part in that too IMO

when ALL the 90's everything first came back...the flat tops, adjustable hats, colorful ass outfits. Well it was really a combo of 80's and 90's at once, because some folks were rocking the big gold chains too.
And speaking of adjustable hats, y'all catch how they fell off around 96-98 and you HAD TO have on a fitted...but came back around 07-08, and now you look like an old head if you have on a fitted?

and the haircuts were part of that phase, but then that left again....and LA dudes were just dressing like normal LA dudes but had those haircuts.....like i know SOOOO many people with Kendrick haircuts its ridiculous and majority of them are from LA lol...

He bought a warehouse full of unused Starters, slapped his TI$A and portrait logos on them and got youngsters like Chris Brown, Big Sean and Tyga to wear them. I'll even go as far as to say he brought back the tag culture because his caps had the tags on the button. That was late 80s shit. trendy haircuts. Especially the 30+ who can barely even keep a hairline LOL. But I think it's always been biggest for High School kids, even more so than college.

Most grown dudes aren't gonna be the ones getting those wild haircuts anyway, that's the college and HS kids. They're always the models for the subculture that exists.
And yeah, those battles are super super extra'd out, along with the exclusive kicks battles they had there. But it still made it feel like the whole haircut culture was huge now, even if only a few people go to those type events

but my homey 36 JUST got the white boy fade part cut like last year. When u see Brad Pitt rocking it you know you can push the age thing way past 30.

Its all in the same group as handle bar moustaches, fixed gear bikes, shaving with straight razors and brushes, craft beer, cuffed jeans, independent coffee shops, retro 50's cars, steampunk etc...
its increased the average wait time by at least 18.75 minutes...
and now that its summer? these little bastards are gonna be there even more often causing the rest of us 9 to 6 working folks to rearrange our entire haircut/lineup schedule.

idk how it is in LA but out here and in NJ (depending on the city) you can walk/drive a few blocks and find a diff shop pretty easily if the wait is too long in one.

Now you would THINK this would be a great time to get it done. Folks already got their weekend cuts done on Friday and Saturday. WRONG. These cats got themselves and their kids in the shop. Kids getting some crazy shit that makes me wait even longer.
I wish I could do this myself without messing it up.
