"Prince & 3RDEYEGIRL Toronto Show Check-In!!!"
Tue May-19-15 12:34 PM by wrecknoble

Toronto heads, most of you will know that Prince & 3RDEYEGIRL are playing at Sony Centre for the Performing Arts tonight!

There are two shows scheduled: 8PM and 11PM

This is the check-in thread, who's going?!

I managed to get 3 tickets for the 11PM show.

Will probably be watching Game 1 of the NBA Western Conference Finals at a bar (maybe Jack Astor's on Front) before the show.

HOLLER.

I've never seen Prince live before so this is something that I can cross off my bucket list.

I was watching the 6 oclock news and they had a reporter down at the venue. My SO was in the shower and I figured might as well check the prices that they're going for. We were gonna have to see the 11 oclock show and I figured it was a long shot. Not gonna pay $500 per ticket. I managed to find someone who had balcony seats for 120 each.

So I took the SO downtown under the pretext that we were gonna go out for dinner. I pretended that the restaurant I was hoping to go had closed down so I was like 'Wanna just grab a sub? I'm too hungry to drive back'. So we have a sub and grabbed a coffee. Walking back to the car I was like 'I wonder what's going on over there at the Sony Center"....as we're walking past she sees the sign. "OH MY GOD...it's PRINCE! And he's playing with Donna Grantis!" (My SO used to go see Donna play at some local blues/jazz clubs here in Toronto)

So I juiced it up a little more (ah man, I bet that would be one of the best concerts of the year)......waited for my moment....and took the tickets outta my pocket. She had a full-on meltdown right there causing some of the other concert-goers to take notice. A couple people from the crowd started clapping while we kissed. A great memory. I am the motherfucking MAN.

In anycase, what a show. For people who don't know....the Sony centre only fits around 2500 people. It's moreso a theatre for plays and ballet and that kinda stuff. So every seat is a good seat. Prince was unbelievable. The crowd was in the palm of his hand. I hadn't seen him before but knew about his reputation as a live act. Can't believe that performance took place AFTER they had just finished another show. They were on stage from 8 to 130. I'm a guitar guy and I have to say.....every single one of Prince's guitar solos were interesting in some way. He must've played at least 20 of them.....and they were all unique and mind-blowing in their own way. There's like 1% of all guitar players that can solo THAT MUCH without losing my interest.

Without doubt....the greatest arena rock show I've ever seen. It wasn't actually in an arena....but just so epic and well-paced. The sequencing is perfect with the peaks and valleys. He knows exactly when the audience needs to cool down or get hyped.

that was a beautiful thing you did for your s/o!

i'm still kind of on a high from how awesome last night was. i knew i was in for something special but WOW, i was blown completel away.

the man is a living legend, and to think he's been doing it for SO long and i feel like he hasn't even lost a beat.

i've been to a LOT of shows, and i'd have to say that last night was probably the best musical show i've ever attended. or at least in my top 3.

SO glad that i decided to purchase tickets last minute.

great to hear that you had an awesome time too!
