"R.I.P Chinx "

He was one of the few NY Rappers who I feel had a NY sound, but was modern enough for this era. I've been bumpin "Dope house" for a minute, along with his version of "Sending my love."

I know this. And additionally I don't want to add insult to injury.

That said. Was the guy in the game?

I ask because his name was drugz and he repped the coke boyz right?
So either he was out there taking the chances that the life entiails or acting like the folks that do. Either way is a recipe for disaster. The maximum upside is setting yourself up for success at the expense of others while someone less cautious and/or more foolish falls victim to what happened to him.

The downside is this situation.

i just hate that because of the points you're making people are acting like no one can or should be saddened by his death.

i know a few people who knew him personally and have seen countless IGs and tweets and such from others i don't know and they all have nothing but good things to say about the dude.
that alone makes it sad to me. its sad when anybody gets killed on some street shit (IMO anyway) not just rappers though.

it's reality

no different from Chris Kyle or really any volunteer soldier, you choose that life & the end results of that life might choose you, period.

That's even aside from the fact that being misled by street life and
choosing to fight in a war are two different types of choices.

i mean the streets are not shy in painting themselves as warriors, nor should they be

both are typically related for the masses of recruits to escaping the economic situation they are in, both have significant actors who have already achieved success but continue to play the game

both involve machismo, discipline & adherence to clandestine codes of conduct

we can understand this & still feel bad for their loved ones without writing out a large truth of the matter

but just to keep this on track, yes it's reality, but it's still a sad one.
No need to callously point out that it's reality when people are expressing
condolence and/or pain.

Grew up on base, not a tough guy, but for whatever reason since adulthood he's decided that he's going to be a blue flag wearing, ck dropping, inked up, running with thugs kind of guy.

God forbid something happens to him but I'd understand. And that's where I am. I have nothing bad to say per se about Chinx Drugz in particular; I'm not familiar with him nor his music of life. I do hope, however, that people are able to understand the relationship between consequences and choices.

let them "act like" that. they are just as entitled to that feeling as those who feel sad.

because ultimately, folks' disdain won't stop you or anyone else from being sad or caring about him., right?

"I'm a coke boy" which made me ignore him when he first came out.

But he did actually remove "Drugz" from his name, so all the new records I had from him are listed as just "Chinx" which had to be done for him to have any commercial success.

I have zero idea if he was still in the game at all. I feel like most rappers like him aren't far removed from it, and still roll with dudes who are in it...so it could have even been a warning sign to somebody in his crew vs being directed at him. And it surely wasn't a robbery attempt, they were out for his life.

I did feel bad seeing his IG though...he had a LOT of pics with his family and kids, and wished his girlfriend/wife Happy Mother's Day, which is all uncommon for these young trendy rappers. He had pics with his son at Chuck E Cheese last week on it.

And how can someone genuinely respect the dead without acknowledging the life they led?

Now if I ran up in here on some "that &$@$& deserved &&)&$$&" then by all means roast my ass, but I started off asking a genuine question that finally got answered and moved on.
