If you're looking for actual geographical locales for the "mutual friends" examples, one was at a bar in Newport when a friend of mine brought her and her crew along with him, another was at a house party of a friend where we played some drinking games with eachother and I subsequently crept on her thru facebook.

I was hesitant as hell about dating someone I worked with. But it ended up being one of the best relationships I've ever had.
The Tinder dude seemed good on paper, but was kind of a weirdo IRL.
Historically mutual friends have been the best road for me. There's already some form of vetting so you know they're not batshit crazy and you likely have common values and interests.

"lil momma" - 4'8" or 4'9" tall, dark chocolate, with a body from hell. Met her on the freight. Used to see her on there all the time. One day I'm leaving work and wound up at the back of the bus with her right next to me. I had just printed out some cassette J-cards for my demo tape at Kinko's and was going over them when she asked about 'em. She wound up at my crib later that evening and didn't leave until the next day.
"Nurse Dorothy" - 5'11, kinda thick, OK body. Met her through a friend. Chick I knew wanted to get with my roomate so I introduced 'em. She said we should all go to the hot tub spot and she had a friend she would bring along for me. Hot tub, lil liquor and wine, and we wound up back at her place. She's the Fuck Buddy I talked about on here before where we were "seeing each other" for nearly 3 years before she started whining about "how come we never go out on dates?".
"stupid" - 5'6" tall, athlete's body (she ran track in high school). Met her at the titty bar she worked at. She came up to me for a lap dance, I declined at first. She came back around and we kicked it until the next song started. Turned out we vibed on a lot of shit. Got my dance from her and kicked it a bit more, she asked for my number and I threw it to her. A year later we were engaged. A year after that we broke up. A year after that I was in the delivery room for the birth of who I thought was my daughter. Three years later a state-ordered DNA test determined that there was a 0.0000% chance of the child being mine. She's the broad I told y'all lived next door to me and I didn't speak to her after the DNA test.

i didn't know the most recent while we were in college, but she was kinda affiliated through OkP although she wasn't an OkP (best of both worlds imo).
and the girl i met at the bar turned out to be a for real, alcoholic. --------------------------------------- it's true what they say...people are strange, when you're strangers.
