Yes, yes, I know I can just google that shit, but there are a lot of creative, intelligent, hustle minded individuals here, and I genuinely respect (most) of your opinions.

I've got a friend who is going to do the web design and graphic work, I just want to know how to get the most bang for my buck in terms of domains, hosting, etc.

I'm probably going to mostly be writing about politics, both national and local, but also just the general shit I'm interested in comics, video games, sports, literature, philosophy, and history.

Also I'd love to see some of your websites, so feel free to do some shameless self-promotion in this post.

And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts..." -The Bard

Other folks will recommend something other than GoDaddy for a domain purchase, and I'll let them do that (I use GoDaddy).

InMotion is good for hosting (you pay a year in advance). I've also used Surpass, which bills by the month.

not to mention if you want to through some ads on your blog. Wordpress is and getting your own host is the way to go.

http://www.fatcow.com/ is running a good deal $40 a year with a free domain name. I used a few different places and they were by far my favorite.

Around 10 a month is a good price for hosting the average website.

Money, the free sites like blogger.com or wordpress.com would be alright. Ghost and tumblr revalso good places to start your blog.

Granted you wont get alot of control over the presentation of your content, but the hosting services are free. You'll also be able to invest your time into your writing without any investment of your money, in case you a writer who likes to write without added pressure.

For a paid service, bluehost.com offers affordable services. You could install a wordpress template and host your site for under 10 dollars a month. Most of their plans are paid in quarterly or yearly installments.

My personal blog is quietabode.blogspot.com.

There are mostly personal / spiritual entries, but there are a couple music and news pieces as well.
