Norway's Juvet Landscape Hotel
http://www.juvet.com/the-juvet-hotel/the-hotel
or
Ferris Bueller's Homeboy Cameron, his Dad's house, designed by
James Speyer, is all my pedestrian eye can think of as examples.

You can always have an architect design one for you for cheap. I like this architect located in the midwest http://www.marlonblackwell.com/index.html

doing prefab really works if you want to manufacture a prototype building multiple times for cheap. But doing just one off is actually more expensive. You can maybe use prefabricated pieces that someone else has used for cheap, but then your stuck with that form.

it really depends but the times we've looked at it, it really wasn't cheaper and was way more of a headache (trying to get wide loads across bridges in the wee hours all the way uptown)

In response to Reply # 4

In the whole class of Landscape architects, urban planners and architects: 3 others(we all came in together and graduated together but they weren't architects)

Of course I ran into problems, but of course it's hard to prove that people were making it hard for us because we were black but you could tell. I had to work twice to three times as hard as others and fight to get the degree I have.

Typical day can range from client meetings, meetings with the city jurisdiction, contractor, drawing/creating drawings and models, to picking out building products, meeting with product reps, and dealing with running a business.

I chose Philly for the historical buildings mostly
Cincinnati because it was a test city for a few architectural pieces namely the train station(grand central station) and the bridge(brooklyn bridge). Plus they are/were bringing in some well known architects to design buildings there(see University of Cincinnati's campus and Contemporary Art Museum)

To me it was fairly easy, you just have to dedicate time and effort to do it. It's hard once you have a family and kids, but doable. Some people just don't see the reason to get licensed so they don't but I feel it's important.

There probably is someone there who could sign off on it. Do you work for an international firm? You may need to network to find someone who could sign off on your hours
