I'm revisiting Organized Konfusion's 'The Equinox' and realizing that this quietly crept into my Top Five list. It's got a solid narrative threading through the album, the beats and production are dope, and its Pharohe Monch and Prince Po at the top of their game. Numbers, In Vitro, Chuck Cheese, Confrontations, Suga Shorty, Somehow Someway, Questions -- there's not a song I skip.
Beyond the Illmatics and Ready to Dies, what qualifies as a perfect rap album for you?
Stesasonic, "In Full Gear" Special Ed, "Youngest in Charge" 3xDope, "Original Stylin'" Brand Nubian, "In God We Trust" Jeru, "Sun Rises in the East" Bubba Sparx, "Deliverance" Black Milk, "Tronic" Elzhi, "The Preface"
I pulled this album out the vaults a couple weeks back and have been letting it rope me back in. Thought was blackin'out on that album somethin serious!

these rank 3rd and 8th on my list, respectively, but they're the ideal that I think could still be done today, unlike, say, 36 Chambers, Illmatic, AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted or It Takes a Nation….
I'd also nominate Pilot Talk and Returnof4eva for more modern examples, again these aren't my ABSOLUTE favorites of the past few years but they are the most listenable and comfortably satisfying.

man I love that album. People call Stalley boring, but Rashad put his foot in all of those beats and it fit Stalley's style perfectly. Really perfect for Summer.

- the perfect marriage of hungry producer and hungry MC - both in their primes - one producer, one MC album, which is kind of an ideal for me - great guest spots - great, minimal skits - good mix of content - no forced songs - no mainstream pandering - perfect length - not a single song that rates below a 9/10
Legit just about the most perfect album I could possibly think of. And I, like you, probably listen to it in full at least once or twice a month. I barely just listen to one song. I have to hear the whole thing.
Man. Thanks for reminding me. Definitely belongs here at #1.
I "thought of" it but didn't say it myself because of that song and maybe one or two others that were real weak spots in an otherwise EXCEPTIONAL album. I still tend to listen to it all the way through whenever I decide to put it on but I stop just short of considering it "perfect".
