"I'm looking to relocate to a new City & State, where should I go?"

My son graduates in May and will be headed off to college. And after 19 yrs I'm open to leaving Atlanta for new possibilities. So, can you please provide a few helpful location suggestions?

I'm looking to Stay on the East Coast, butI'm open to Texas and Colorado too.

Thinking of DC or Philly to be closer to my hometown, but DC may be the move due to all of the law firms there.

You already know that though. The proximity to home, for you, is spot on. You can get it in when you feel like and get gone just as quickly.

Was going through old messages recently and saw some from you when you were makingthat move down to the A. Time's flown.

Best of wishes to you, fam!

I'd move to the following places w/ no restrictions in place:

Very Large Cities:
Chicago
New York
Philadelphia

Large Cities:
Washington, DC
Detroit
Boston

Moderately Large Cities:
Charlotte
Raleigh
Louisville
Nashville

Smaller Cities:
Durham
Winston-Salem
Richmond
Charleston, SC
Chattanooga

If I had to choose one from each category, it would be

Chicago, Washington, Nashville, Charleston

If to maximize earning potential while having the ability to enjoy as many different places in a four/five hour drive, DC might be the best bet.

If to maximize earning potential and live in sweltering heat, Houston would prolly be the best bet. I've family in Houston and Austin that are doing quite well there career-wise. In fact, my bro is a project manager on telecom and IT projects. Right now, he's with a large petroleum company.

Outside of that, what does your son think of you leaving the ATL?

Either way, I wish you the best.

I might need to move there and network with your cousin.

My son is graduating an going off to college in Kansas, so I doubt that my moving will impact his feelings. Plus it will give him another option to visit.

To relocate.

Outside of that, the further north you go, the more cake you gotta spend to live.

If that's not an issue, Howard or Harford County MD are great places (Columbia, Owings Mills, White Marsh...close to Baltimore & DC, not TOO far from Philly)

- huge black population
- embraces the history of slavery
- FOOD
- Cost of living is good
- near the water
- gentrification isnt just wholesale moving folks

2) Boulder CO
- beautiful landscape
- even demo of conservatives and liberals which comes through in the politics
- upward mobility in tech without the douches of silicon valley
- cost of living is high but the tax revenue is spent on infrastructure and the school system so kind of a "get what you pay for" dynamic

3) Pittsburgh Pa (see JohnForte)
-cost of living is insane for what you get
-booming middle class
-home of the most underated women in the country (not looks, personality wise)
-good colleges which translates to upward mobility and plenty of companies hiring
-small big city

I bumped into a woman from Pittsburgh last night I'm cool with and we were reminiscing about Nats aka Arts Place.

I took my wife there last time we were home.

Top shelf double shots with a dash of cran for $4.50. might be a little higher but you will get change back. lol
