"Poll question: Which one you like most: Blurred Lines vs. Happy vs. Uptown Funk"
Mon Apr-13-15 03:15 PM by -DJ R-Tistic-

All three are #1 Billboard singles from the last three years...almost representing each year.

All three are influenced heavily by the previous decades, especially the 70's/80's.

Two are by Pharrell.

All three received love from all generations, age groups, genders, race groups, and even species.

All three are near polarizing, in that there are folks who literally HATE one or more of them.

Which one do you like most, or which one did you like most at it's peak?

Which one do you hate most, and hope to never, ever, ever hear again?

Poll result (55 votes)
Blurred Lines (6 votes)Vote
Happy (23 votes)Vote
Uptown Funk (18 votes)Vote
I'll drink a shot of Lysol if I have to hear any of them again (8 votes)Vote
I'm White (I love all three) (0 votes)Vote

AND the intro with the band (which was dope)...like...y'all don't realize that's how you burn songs out?

And it's still a great song, but man. NBA is notorious for that...remember "Let's get it started" in 04???? Man they played that shit every single night 35 times for two whole months of Playoffs!

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Liked: Uptown Funk but approaching annoying.

Blurred lines was eh, but understood the appeal.

if a less beloved artist dropped that song, we'd be shitting all over it. I don't BELIEVE uptown funk. It's Meghan Trainor levels of novelty. It is to funk what every UB40 song is to reggae.

Happy is a genuinely good song, and will stand the test of time.

I do think it has some cheese to it, but I get that that's where the overall crossover appeal comes in. The horns on the hook are definitely cheese.

But the energy? The catchiness? The melody? The way they really flipped Trinidad? The way allll the different songs it stole from, I mean was influenced by, all fit in? The breakdowns and build ups? It's just a fun ass song for sure.

I'll get annoyed and change the station or channel or whatever to avoid it. But I still like the song.

That being said...

Happy >> Uptown Funk >>>>>>> Blurred Lines

I wasn't a super big fan of "Blurred Lines" but I definitely get the appeal for some folks. I like the other 2 more and can still groove to them a little but they're both definitely played A LOT.

when it comes to over-consumption (shit is that the technical term??)

Like, you can love filet mignon...but having it three times a day for a month will kill the joy of it for most people.

So I surely get how songs lose appeal and don't hit as hard...I see it all the time at parties. Most club-only songs don't get played out as fast as radio hits.

I DID hate Uptown Funk, but I ended up dancing to it with my daughters as part of their dance class. Now when I hear it I do our dance routine....by myself, in public...dont matter...I think it just reminds me of that bond....and driving back and forth to Lake Elsinore for 5 fking dayd. LOL

I've liked all three, but for me it goes Happy > Blurred > Uptown Funk. "Happy" is really pure joy to me. Like, yeah.... shit got played out. But if it comes on, even if you've heard it too much, people smile. It's strangely the best thing Pharrell ever created.

Since the 90s, most shits been either silly, shallow, sexy, selfish, sad or angry

Very few artists in recent generations even care to try to express full-on emotional sunshine

Even with Uptown Funk sounding like the type of cheesy funk James Brown would've done in the 80s. It's a fun song to me. Happy gets a nod as well due to my son and grandson loving the song. Seeing those two doing their little kid dances to it is burned into my memory.

I never ever ever want to hear Happy again. Uptown Funk sucks. Blurred lines is the best out of the three by default.
