"My Cousin Had to Defend His Doctoral Thesis Today. But...."
the first call he got this morning was finding out his Dad died. my Uncle had been mentally not well ever since his stroke 6 or 7 years ago. physically...he was declining, but its not like he was in the hospital on life support. and to have to defend your thesis under that kind of shock is incredible.
my cousin and i were born on the exact same day. my dad and his sister both had sons on September 16, 1980. he's my twin cousin. my brousin. the only difference is be was last of his parents three children, and i was the first of my parents three children. and his older sisters were 11 and 8 years older than him. so we've really lead different lives. and his like puts my life in perspective. cause we're both 34, both at good places in our careers, but i still have BOTH of my parents and he's lost his already. and that makes my heart go out to him. it just makes you put everything in perspective and all that. that life is so....different. and you never know what people your age and seemingly just like you might have gone through. --------------------------------------- it's true what they say...people are strange, when you're strangers.

i think that's what made me say damn the most. definitely not my pain, and not really even his pain, but the fact he had to suppress it and fight thru it on a day that was already challenging enough. --------------------------------------- it's true what they say...people are strange, when you're strangers.
