it's too dependent on too many variables. i'm an atheist and almost all of my family members are Xtian. the parents who raised me are particularly devout (and i have great respect for them and their faith). i think i can deal w/dating a Xtian - but not if they're 'too devout'.
but i dunno about dating a Muslim b/c i'm not as familiar w/the religion and the various practices and the ppl. ditto w/all other faiths.

So I mean hypothetically given the scenario above I would marry them if they allowed the children to come to my church.
As I've said though, in real life? It's never been that smooth. People can't hold their opinions, they have comments, they secretly judge, and when it comes to children??? They want their way or no way.

But I'm not actually entirely sure any more. I'm pretty coldly rational and unsentimental about a lot of life and I think after a while some serious deal-breakers would start to emerge.

relationship between the individual and the deity that they profess to serve. The other person's belief in a god has virtually nothing to do with me. Their salvation is their issue, not mine. If their behaviors contrast with mine,be it because of religious tenets or otherwise, that is way more of a deal breaker for me.

I married a JW and i'm all but atheist...haven't had any issues
We've also decided to let any future kids decide on their own once they are of age and there are only hypothetical major what if conflicts but very few and far in between

I border on heathen/agnostic, he was the type to go to church every week. Sometimes I'd go to church with him. Thankfully he didn't go to one of those "If you're not accepting Jesus as your Lord and savior, you're going to hell" types of churches. I wouldn't be able to deal with that. I mostly dug the message they were conveying even if I didn't fully believe in the notion of Jesus and the rest of it, so I didn't mind the services. Sometimes I even enjoyed it.
But religion was the least of our sticking points. He respected my perspective and I respected his. It wasn't that hard.

I'd say the capacity is there to do it inadvertently but I wouldn't do it knowingly.
If we have long-term goals of cohabitating and procreating then our collective spiritual cosmology needs to be congruent. Without that type of solidarity, our progeny will be confused as hell.

I'm dealing with this issue right now and it's trying my actual ties to the church. Realizing that the worldly person is far, far, far, far, easier to operate on the same wavelength as the churchgoer.
If I love the person and we are compatible then everything else will work itself out. Hell a lot of churchgoers I know married someone that is not a part of the church.
certain Catholic traditions I want to keep because on a certain level they are cultural as well but beyond that I have no real loyalty to Catholicism.
I'm much more spiritual and recognize all religions to be manifestations of the Supreme Being. I would have no problem raising any children within both my and my partner's religions because both sides are part of my children's heritage.
