"Poll question: Out of the choices, who was the best WWE Trash Talker?"
Tue Apr-07-15 02:53 PM by Case_One

The Nature Boy Rick Flair is not an option. He practically pioneered the art and script of trash talking into a science.

A. Ravishing Rick Rude (the famous "why don't all you fat slobs sit down so I can show your women what a real man looks like")

B. Million Dollar Man - this thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwoQ2b3k8Uo (for those that can't see, its the vid of him kicking the ball away from the kid instead of paying him)

past that

I wish I could find a vid of Roddy Piper beating up that Jamaican midget "lil' Mr. T" before whichever wrestlemanina that was (one or two) <---- THAT was one of the most hilarously evil things I ever saw. The midget screaming, "Mista T gonna git yoooooooooooou!!!" aw man too much

They gave the kid and his mom the money before they even shot the promo, but the kid still legit thought they weren't going to get it after DiBiase kicked the ball. So that look of absolute pain and sadness is real.

Still the most evil moment in wrestling history.

I distinctly remember tapping out just a few weeks into Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton being regular wrestlers and The Rock doing the Scorpion movie.

And for whatever reason (mainly really enjoying a couple of wrestling podcasts) I came back for Wrestlemania after over a decade away and I'll be honest, I REALLY enjoyed the wrestling. I forgot what that spectacle could feel like. It wasn't Angle throwing Shane through real glass or a Rock Bottom on prime HHH or anything but it was a three hour show full of fun matches and really cool spots.

Then I watched the following RAW and mostly felt the same.

But the talking...Seth Rollins is the champion and he is AWFUL on the mic. He sounds like a prom king runner-up getting interviewed on a local access newscast run by the high school he attends.

(I haven't seen the most recent RAW yet, but far as I can tell you've got Stephanie McMahon and her husband goading people into looking like idiots trying to respond to them or Paul Heyman hyping up a man who barely exists and then a bunch of flaming garbage.)

All the classic guys went for 5 minutes at MOST.

There's way too much telling, and not enough SHOWING, which is kinda weird given that Vince notoriously prefers to hire TV writers over wrestling bookers.

C. Bobby Heenan
D. Jesse "the Body" Ventura

both of those dudes were dope on the mic, so much so they would pair them to cover cats who weren't so good

also, unless I'm mistaken these two are the genesis of the "heel announcer" (essentially cheering on the bad guy in matches)

E. Michael "PS" Hayes (Fabulous Freebirds)
F. Jim Cornette

these last two, while great, never really got full WWE/F shine. duly noted.

Randy Savage cut great promos,

ECW era (not the WWE bastardization) Shane Douglas. The Franchise was epic with his mic game.

Obviously Flair goes without saying.

The Ravishing One was excellent also.

It's about the life of The Iron Shiek. I watched it this past weekend and it was surprisingly good.

for the WWF title. they won. so the World Wrestling Federation became World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). WWE then bought out WCW, so they kinda own it all.
