"would u write off an entire generation to save subsequent generations?"

for the sake of discussion, assume that you believe public schools are messed up and there's no way to help any kid currently beyond kindergarten.

BUT

if you start with incoming kindergartners, you can guarantee that batch of kids and each group following them will receive an exceptional education. you'll start them off right and keep them on the right track throughout their schooling.

it's just that the kids who were in grades 1st-12th are doomed to get pushed through a failing system and end up poorly educated.

would you write off all those kids if you had a guarantee that they would be the last of their kind and everybody after that would be great?

they become 'problems' at other junctures in their life.

and will one day be the generation 'in charge' by default of age.

you cannot 'turn your back' on an entire generation. ultimately, they will destroy the whole shit.

you have to manage/allocate resources to them all.

but making a decision like that isnt pragmatic imo
the forgotten/wayward generation will make an impact whether we like it or not
might as well give some thought to mitigating the impact & seeing what can be done to improve their situation

i feel like we're already doing that
except there isnt much thought that is going into 'saving' any particular generation
but america's lot is already thrown in with the ones we'd rather forget
& those chickens will come home to roost one way or another
