"seinfeld is about love, actually. "
Fri Apr-03-15 11:47 AM by Joe Corn Mo

looking back at earlier episodes, it is pretty obvious
that jerry and elaine love each other.

and they know they each love
each other back.

jerry loves his friends, too.
he let's kramer eats his food,
and has no problem with kramer's anti-social, damn near anarchist antics.

he listens to george's problems.
they're best friends.

society, in seinfeld's world
is a malicious nuisance, because it interferes with hanging out
at the cafe with his best friends and the love of his life.

but jerry never says i love you.
he shows it.

which is really, the most heatwarming part of the entire show. only action matters.

I used to think the heartfelt montage at the end of the series
was totally against the themes of the show, but it wasn't.

it was totally in line with the
show.

clips of Jerry giving kramer food,
clips of elaine shoving jerry,
clips of elane fucking with george because she's jealous of
george.

the show is about love, actually.

weird I didn't notice it until
i'd lived a while.

Much like the formula of always sunny is bad people causing bad things to happen to each other.

they are mean to each other,
in a way that the seinfeld cast is not.

and the seinfeld cast has more
of a calous indiference
to ppl that aren't them
more than being actively malicious.

the vibes of the shows are a little different, to me.

I lived in both and IMO most people in NYC are too busy to get into arguments over petty shit.

Philly people ain't got shit to do bruh... and they are bitter as fuck so they love to fight over everything.

There are people in Philly who are hired to go out and be assholes for a living.

and I said S. Philly too... that place is the worst.

the golden girls don't hate society.

neither does the cast of friends.

th sex in the city cast might;
I haven't seen the show enough to know.

seinfeld is very explicit about
how much they hate society.

other group shows, not so much

New York is largely comprised of douchebags and the witty people who deal with them

a lot of the interactions with people outside of their 4 person circle dealt with tolerating douchebags

they all had their quirks but I'd feel confident in saying Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer were good, well intentioned people

I also think it's easy to not care about the next man and not feel a communal bond with others with a city of the dense population that NYC has.

i never considered if the show had any kind of moral to its themes. they all seemed to put up with each other, because they just didn't know what else to do.

it seemed the 'anti-sitcom' because all sitcoms had moral messages and the show just wouldn't offer one.

i guess if the show is about love, it's love in a way that NYC is shown to have in sitcoms - the people of the city really care about each other even though it's hard for people to show warmth.

not in the way that we hang around as a group of friends but overall we are on good terms, still talk, etc. one of them is still one of my best friends, we talk all the time. i admit once in a while it turns sexual (she is married now) but pretty rarely.

i don't know that it was "about" love but there is a concept of friendship that runs through it and also through curb to an extent. you can scream at your friends, you can piss them off and they can do the same to you, but you're still tight

i agree that their bond/camaraderie was a major theme
