"** CONFESSION WEDNESDAY **"

-Two Saturdays ago I was in the area of an old friend all day for a basketball tournament. She has a son that's in high school and her husband coaches teams so I shot her a text like 3-4 days prior to and asked were they going to be there as well....she's like no but we probably can come up there and check u out. They've done this before so I'm like cool no big deal.

The morning of the tournament at like 9 she texts me that her son and husband had to go to another tournament in st. louis and she had to work half the day so she wouldn't make it. I'm like cool no big deal..

she texts me again at 1 and says she's getting off early and she's gonna come up to the gym. I'm like cool.

She gets there and i see her and she says she aint got shit to do, after this lets go eat. I'm like fuck it...it's about 4pm and it was time to go so she suggests a spot...i agree and i follow her there. Now she parked right in front of the spot and i had to park a ways away(this is useful info for later) so she got in and got a booth before i even got out my car...

We get there and sit...then order a drink and almost IMMEDIATELY she starts to pour out her heart bout her life.

Husband moved out
They been having problems..serious ones
Sons(they have 2) taking husband side
Divorce

I didn't wanna hear all this shit. I aint used to seeing her 1 on 1 anyway. Always with the husband....so I was all awkward lol.

We're done eating and i'm like cool i better jet, i got an hour and a half drive.

We get to the door and she asks where i park, i tell her waaay round the corner and down the street...she says "Oh i'll drive u to your car"..

cool.

We get to her car and before she opens the door she says "I just gotta tell you, my husband has put a gps tracker on my car and a bug inside so don't say anything crazy when u get in"

SCREEEEEEEEEECH

I got in and didn't say one word. Just looked at her and motioned with my hand bout where to go.

Got to my car and we both got out and she was like "Don't judge me please it's a long story"

ummmmmmm

*scratches her name out my phone book*

all last week I was going on and on about how I wished instead of people, the universe would throw me opportunities and you bet it fucking did.

I had two interviews but I ended up turning them down because it looks like my bosses are finally taking me seriously!! You girl's gonna be baking professionally by May and I'm so fucking amped. Plus they throwing me extra shifts until then.... yo, I can't say nothing negative or at least I gotta try cuz I'm a dark mofo.

One of my coworkers is gonna teach me guitar and I'm just floored at how lucky I am sometimes, best believe I thank the universe every day cuz it could be so much worse. I'm in the middle of writing two songs now and I feel like I can't stop.

This is gonna be my last lean week in a while but it's almost over...

And my havana twists came out cute!!!

*walks outta post like*

and regret not having kids :/
in my early twenties i was all about wanting kids and the whole soccer mom thing
then i got in the do me phase and stopped wanting them
but i am one of those people that go through a lot of phases in life
and i am scared that i am going to one day really want kids and not be able to have them...i'm already at the age where conception won't be easy :/
i've always been .... oh then i will just adopt which is what would likely end up happening....but i wonder if that would make me long for having birth a baby even more....

sigh. *the musings of a 38 year old with an unconventional life*

the key to happiness is not being rich;
it's doing something arduous and
creating something of value and then
being able to reflect on the fruits of your labor

Spending $55 on Plan B is a lot cheaper than co-parenting for 18 years.

my mom warned me about that a few yrs ago - to be careful if i have kids b/c the co-parent will be in my life for ever.

i'm 38 and my parents still have some connection though they haven't been in a romantic relationship in over 35 yrs. the connection is tenuous but it's there and will be there for the rest of their lives. it will outlive me if i die before them. LOL.

they gave everyone a free Plan B pill just in case. I had it for like months when my girl said she needed to get one but didn't have the money. I was like "you're in luck, i have one on deck." so odd trying to explain how I had Plan B's just laying around.

when I get at my absolute wits end

thing is I don't know if I really meant it, or if I really don't want to go through getting there and the bullshit that may be involved after it

I just know I haven't spoken it in years and saying it again made me really upset.

what's even more upsetting is that the thing I don't know whether I want or not may be the very thing I need.

anger is a temporary irrational disease. nothing said in the heat of the moment is a reflection of who you are. have you ever made the right decision while angry even though it seemed so right in the moment? i know i haven't. i have always regretted it because i know it is not who i am. forgive yourself, make due apologies, and move forward and try to better. human beings are far from perfect.

i want nothing more than for you and your family to be happy
but as a true friend if I am not honest with you and tell you what's in my heart at that very moment I cease being ur friend... please keep in mind I never said you couldn't succeed... I know you can but I want you to be clear on your path to success and who you take on that journey with you.

i can tell you all the rainbow and unicorn phrases and paint a picture that is as beautiful as your spirit but if I am not honest with you I am failing you as friend...

I want to make sure you see the whole picture... the picture that includes the hard work and the options that don't have happy endings... that in no way shape or form means I am rooting against your happiness...

at the same time, I say to myself "I wish I had a job closer to home. I wish I could be home by 530/6 instead of 7/730." I'm totally okay with getting paid the same amount if I worked closer to home...if I worked in BK, even better. Force me to ride my bike more. But I do like my job and I wonder "how much more money would it take for me to WANT to stay" (not HAVE to stay). and its' like...between my two coworkers being out, being swamped with work, and other stressors, it's no less than $15K. but I'm in a union, and i know that won't fly.

then i say just say until you make xyz happen...and that means at least another year...but this shit wearing on me.

and I'm pissed at myself for falling off of a yoga because if nothing else, yoga gave me that outlet sometimes, and I haven't cried over this in months...but holding it in has just made me aggressive.

Lent is technically over tmrw...but I have a piece of birthday cake on my desk that's calling my name that I want to indulge in to feel better....and I'm like fuck it, but then I'm like...you can wait one more day.

1. i told the truth about everything i felt, what i needed, and what i felt was fair
2. i told the person that i will help them in any way possible to get to a position that i feel is appropriate, and of course, fair.
3. i told them that i do not discard people, instead, i find it more productive to build together.

I am starting my 30 day Isagenix challenge and no junk food challenge. The only part that gets me is the 2 day fast during the weekend (only 2 weekends out the month). Will be blogging my experience daily.

I am FINALLY ready to get back into the workforce. Trying to find a job that I LIKE AND a full day daycare that won't cost an arm, leg and my whole paycheck. So, pray for me!

I gotta do my mother in law's taxes today. Usually she pays me to do them so it will be nice to get a little cash. Maybe I will do something nice for myself with the money.

it's amazing how quickly i fell out of my workout and beauty routine when things got tough. my hair and skin are a mess and i'm soft in places i wasn't before.

how do parents/people whose days are full always do it?? lol. i'm a little disappointed that all it took was about 4 months of stress for me to completely fall out of habits that i've built over the last four years. such a slippery slope.

anyway, hair appointment booked, eating better and will go back to workin' out 4x/week. (BSR - let's do the 5 day challenges!). throw in some massages and i should be good.

i'm excited. really excited.

i have to print something, then i have stupid ass meeting at 12pm and then i need to squeeze in as much studio time as possible. this is always how it ends up working out for me.

k was sick last week and refuses to take naps which makes it harder to get away. on the days he's in daycare it's the only time i have to do my studio work.

i'm trying to get in there at least 2x a week even though i know that's not much. my goal is at least 3 times a week. i've already reached my goal weight, i just want to lose an extra 5 for cushion. i also want to build more muscle.

don't count bodyweight circuits out, those are fantastic when you just can't make it to the gym for a full workout but you do have say 10-15 mins to spare. When I do those, I spend about 25 mins start to finish and I do a total of 4 circuits (1 warm-up and 3-round workout)

here for dis.

...we still have so much to talk about and clarify and make understood and understand and plan and readjust to but i'd be lying if i said i didn't feel like a million pound weight was lifted from off my chest. the resentfulness the loneliness the sadness the hate and confusion......i get to let it all go. first time around we kinda just jumped in without much discussion re: expectations. this time we have had (a whole lotta) time to reflect on expectations, what we need from one another and what we owe to one another as far as commitment goes and from what we've discussed so far, i trust that he gets it. hearing him out was worth it.

...i don't know how to tell my family. but i guess i should wait til we catch up more.

...i eat and drink too much junk.

i don't offer a lot of myself to begin with but there has been a good 2 or 3 day stretch where motherfuckers are getting on my nerves. people panic and want you to panic...and i'm not going to do that. people want your time when they want your time, and i'm not going to do that. this poor lady at work....i'm going out to Bon Chon for lunch. i'm going and bringing shit back for everyone. i'm doing that at 1. i don't give a fuck what the fuck you want, i'm going at 1. i tell her yes...i'm going to get wings and 1. she gets an attitude like BUT I'M HUNGRY NOW. i'm about to take the gotdamned train for this. this is what i'm doing. you can either join in, or join out.

i give myself out at the rate i choose to give myself out. otherwise i'd feel like i was being sucked dry. i might be selfish. i like my plans. and sometimes i have no problem deviating from them. but sometimes....i'mma do me, in my own way. and there are very few people who i'll change for when i'm feeling like that. AND....the people who love me allow me to do that. its understood that i'm an isolated person, and instead of forcing their way into my cocoon...they let me work out of that. and that's the difference between those people i love and just people i enjoy.

i'm fucking stressed man. and i don't know what to do about that. i need a chick i can chill with....roll 1 up with....have sex with...spend the night...kiss on the mouth in the morning before i leave...and go on about my business. no strings. pure contentment. at this age that shit is so hard to find. there are always strings. always. always expectations, which i get....i do. but damn.

i love being the Uncle who gets WrestleMania and has his nephew down for pizza and wings. thats some cool shit i know he loves and we have a blast. my sister too. family time this weekend was great.

i also need the gym. i'm about to take this shit seriously. i'm changing my environment and hopefully can change the bad habits i've collected over the past years. focus more. eat better. exercise. read. these are things i'm looking forward to changing. and sometimes you gotta get outta your normal routine to make some changes. and i'm with it.

women should be free to make their own informed choices on how they want to conduct their lives.
If a woman makes an informed choice for herself that she wants to be a homemaker, I would salute that just like I salute all working mothers. I hate how even when we are supposed to support each other, we still end up fighting each other.

i think there's wanting "tradional roles" aka woman cooks and cleans vs. a woman believing that's all WOMEN are suppose to do and actively encourge other women to stay in the home.

there's a difference

if a woman makes a decision FOR HERSELF
that she wants to be a housewife and that is what she wants FOR HERSELF while respecting the decisions of fellow women who makes choices FOR THEMSELVES no matter what those choices may be then I will surely respect her choice because I trust that she made that decision for herself. The way I'm reading your response is that you're addressing conditioning and that I will agree is a problem that still needs to be addressed.

I got into it with an old poster on these very boards about this some years ago. Feminism 100% means my right to choose whatever the fuck I want without judgement or repercussions, and that choice may well mean staying home.

Kudos to the woman who's brave enough to admit that she doesn't "want it all" and is perfectly fine being "just" a stay at home mom and running a household.

i see the connection, but to me misogyny implies women are lesser than.

to me, gender roles do not make a statement about which role is lesser than.

also there are levels

take for example me listening to mysogynistic music
vs
me going they aint talking about me

thats most mindsets because hey its got a beat and i can dance to it

so they could be entering this with not a care for feminism thinking they like traditional values
next level
well he's not talking about me/us
a lot of times it doesn't go deeper than that

people can care for each other regardless of views
folks are walking contradictions
also once they realize their contradictions start to collide they soft pedal around those things and try to minimize the importance in their lives for the sake of the relationship

or the truly hardheaded dudes persist
and women suddenly realize oh shit

but yet and still now you in a relationship and you try to change the person

or you have kids
and if its girls dude changes
or not
and again the oh shit moment

or boys and the cycle repeats
with the mothers not even realizing they are reinforcing
or realizing and thinking this is what men are supposed to be

I was so lost
so confused

so many nights I prayed to the Lord for guidance
to help me move past the pain
to help me find my happiness wherever it led me
committing myself to my healing.

I took my steps one foot forward at a time
then one day at a time
then one week at a time
and so forth

and now I'm at a point where I'm so grateful
because this moment in time right now feels like the first rays of sunshine in spring after a long, dark winter.
I am truly content with most of my life.

Thank you Lord for listening to me when I thought you'd forgotten about me. You may not come when I call but you've always been on time without fail.
Thank you self for loving me enough to actually FEEL your emotions and not losing faith in me as a human being worthy of love, kindness, trust and respect.
and thank you...for just being you.

I've been thinking of getting these Nas bars tatted on me:
It's clear why the struggle was so painful
metamorphosis, this is what I changed to
and God I'm so thankful

here for dis.

i wore it so my skirt wouldn't ride up and it's doing its job. as a kid i had so much anxiety attached to wearing a slip. is it hanging below my skirt? why won't it stay up? oops the strap popped! way too many scenarios for an 8 yr old. but now that i'm older i can see getting back into them.

ive been getting emails for months about renewing my gift to my alma mater and the only thing that made me halfway pull out my credit card was the email saying i'll get my 10 year charm for my true blue necklace. man they really did it with this campaign cuz i'm sure those charms are cheap as hell but everybody wants them! smart, smart women! (i was gonna donate anyway cuz i always do)

it's so lonely on my work hallway right this minute i'm the only one here. everyone else is either in a meeting, been laid off, or retired. *sigh*

I go to bed tired and cranky though, then Im back to feeling okay the next morning

I hate living check to check and stressing over bills, but since Im working 2 jobs now that should be over with by the end of the year.

I played April Fool's jokes on my lady the past 2 years. 2013 I said I needed her to go with me to a Chief Keef concert I had to review (she hates his stuff), last year I said an old flame she was suspicious of was coming into town and wanted to go to dinner with me (shit almost got crazy). I wont play one this year, Im kind of too old for it now

I want to have a kid by the end of next year.

I really love my LA friends, really good, responsible and genuinely down to earth people who are from here. I cant kick it with transplants caught up in "the life" and similar bullshit. Also my in laws called me last night while hanging with my parents in NY and Im glad we're all a family now. Things were pretty hectic for a little while

I'm fortunate that I was able to bounce back from the trials that the universe has thrown at me. I have an incredible support system yet sometimes I feel like I'm so blinded by life that I don't realize it, then out of nowhere it hits me & I wanna buy all of them Cadillacs and dinner at sizzlers!

My boy is a selfish pr*ck, he's grasping for straws to embarrass his estranged wife. Now he's claiming that our other boy (who has a beautiful family & the happiest I've ever seen him) slept with his wife when they were in their TEENS & she had an abortion...REALLY MY N*GGA?

Now for the material things, I wanna trade my BMW in before the summer. I saw that new 535 and can't stop thinking about it!

I'm on day 5 of this 14 day fast & it's not as bad as I thought it would be, as I watch munchies.

Fuck your fort!

Life is good.

Been a trying year as soon as it got here but the most promising
ever at the same damb time.

I really just wanna get this music done and bounce.

That chill success energy from my DJ homie is contagious I guess,
cause I was stressing abt a lot.

Thankful for clarity, I have answers I wish I'd had 3 or more years
ago.

People will always have ideas abt what you should be doing, and funny
how it's always closely identical to what they're doing.

Ready for that sigh of relief in June.

Need travel.

I've been veggie since 2015 rolled in and I love it.

I shouldn't go THERE. But eff it I will lol.

Happy tears, I guess. I'm just so grateful that my life is turning around.
It's been turning for a while now, but I couldn't really *see* it.
Now there are actual results coming into fruition and I'm just so glad.

Depression is still there. It's like an attention-starved child that tugs at my pants leg sometimes. But it doesn't control my day.
I think I was wasting energy worrying that it *would* get back to that point, but then I got so distracted by my actual days that
I had to let that worry go. Nights still get to me. I'm working on stilling my mind so I can sleep well, but it's a slow process so far.

On another health note... Apparently, I have scoliosis. It's very mild, not enough to cause any concern, but
it solves the mystery to my (thankfully infrequent) knee and back pain. They're still trying to solve
the pain/fatigue issue, but the doctor was pretty excited today about some tests she ordered. So we'll see.

PRAYERS/GOOD VIBES/ETC NEEDED ALERT:
I got a lead on two more jobs today -- both in the coffee industry (if I get either, that will be two coffee jobs for me).
And both have a current employee who can give me a recommendation. So I'm just praying one of these jobs comes through.
Gotta pay for school somehow, and my credit's finally good. I refuse to go backwards.

This week, I officially started school! And it feels good to have people rooting for me.
They act like I'm Super Woman or something, the way they predict I'll fly through these courses.
I used to feel that way about myself, but now I'm just confident that I'll do well.
I never thought I was a super brain so much as a super hard worker. I can do this. I will do this.

I never have to put on clothes unless we're having a Google Hangout
and I still love my job, but there's a big BUT

I used to just work early mornings and the later it gets in the day more degenerates and hood people start calling up

havent worked since august
now that i only have school two days a week, i should probably try and find a consultancy :o(
although the only job i (i think) i should take is one that is interesting or related to a skill i want to learn
and i most probably wont be in the country over the summer.
perhaps i shouldnt have quit my last job - shouldve transferred to hq instead

*this week is the first time i actually feel like theres a purpose to being in this school
or at least im not actively thinking of transferring

*its really hard for me to like this city (bmore) when i cant figure out wtf people do for fun
i hang out in d.c a couple of times two weeks go ... made me wonder wtf b'more

i saw those crazy bike riders do that 90degree wheelie (12 o'clock?) the other day, wtf
shit almost gave *me* a heart attack - i was sure they were going to crash
again.. wtf b'more.

*trying to work on a 5-year plan and im stuck cause i cant figure out what comes next/ where im going next/
so other than- get this dissertation done... blank
thats kind of scary (for me.)

post about hopkins. i don't see it, anymore. i remember the post because i went to hopkins, too. grad school.

>*this week is the first time i actually feel like theres a
>purpose to being in this school
>or at least im not actively thinking of transferring

i wanted to transfer and drop out of hopkins. it was NOT the experience i thought i'd have. the program i was in felt like soul-sucking awfulness. it was devastating how much i didn't like the program, my professors, how i was learning, or the work i was doing.

thank god, a professor took interest and encouraged me-- but she also had a perspective that was alive and not dead.

her presence was enough (but not a perfect solution) for me to hang in. i eventually stopped thinking about dropping out, but staying was a complicated decision.

i was so bummed, sad, and frustrated after my first semester at hopkins. it made me seriously question my choices and my judgment!

>*its really hard for me to like this city (bmore) when i cant
>figure out wtf people do for fun
>i hang out in d.c a couple of times two weeks go ... made me

yea.

>wtf b'more.

yea.

but sometimes, people have a turn around and fall in love with the city. maybe that will happen to you. things change, life changes.

the city is too intensely...sad and depressing...to me. something.

i was pretty isolated when i was there. the dark ages.

>*trying to work on a 5-year plan and im stuck cause i cant
>figure out what comes next/ where im going next/
>so other than- get this dissertation done... blank

good luck with your studies. i mean it. SO glad to hear you feel a bit more positive about the experience, for now.

i was in the college of arts and sciences. i wanted to commiserate with you, even though it's been over 5 years since I was there.

it can get better.

school of public health,
i really really really dont like this school
i spent some time reaching out to professors and then realized these people dont have shit to help me with
they are more concerned about *their* research

my advisor's 'advice' is for me to look for someone that is doing interesting research and join them and find a way to make this into a dissertation topic
im like, wtf? i was very clear about what i wanted to do for my dissertation when i applied
that hasnt changed.
i thought thats the whole purpose of gradschool
these past couple of months have been really rough on my psyche.
i cant even begin to talk about how godawful this experience has been
its like they are killing my motivation to be in this field :o(
i have less clarity about where im headed than when i started

but im still here.

>i was so bummed, sad, and frustrated after my first semester
>at hopkins. :-( it made me seriously question my choices and

this is my 4th. im waiting for it to get better.
at this point i dont even want to be associated with hopkins :o(

im trying. i love to move to a place and really get to know it
this is the first time im only having wtf moments.
this city.... i dont get it.
im trying though.

I say my little one liners. Post the 5ive on fridays. Speak my bit on the highs and lows of parenthood, yet I am disconnected from this place like a muhphucka.

I don't even think I've seen an OKP in person in at least 3 years.

sh*t moves to fast. always has. I love it but still can't grasp it--- the inner workings of it all.

One day.

Either OKP will leave me or I'll leave it.

probably the former.

Dude at my job got hurt last week and is trying to claim workers comp for the 3rd time in 2 years. He was told by worker comp doc that he must be on crutches until tomorrow which is his follow up.

I know he's trying to milk it because he's tried it before and told someone that the doc told him he would probably be on 6 week rehab.

Saw him and his girl last Saturday in the supermarket and dude was walking around fine with no crutches. When he finally saw me, he was trying to limp around as if it was worse than what it is but i know dude was faking.

I saw it and kim. The issue is one of my titles at the jo is safety director and i could report it and dude would be in trouble, possibly fired.

But i wont. Im cool with dude and I get along with too many people at my jo and if dude gets caught it will be because our risk management company is doing video surveillance to catch people faking injuries, which theyve been known to do in the past.

Now if he forces my hand by putting me in the middle of something, i'll fry his ass but for now, its see no evil hear no evil over here.
