I personally don't love eating salads for lunch b/c I always seem to wind up with oil n vinegar on my work shirt. Ah well.
But yeah, both those options are (well - can be) very very healthy and relatively quick and require no cooking skill at all.
For smoothies, keep some fresh fruit on the counter, some frozen fruit in the freezer and some yogurt in the fridge. I typically like to use a fresh banana, some OJ, and some combo of frozen cranberries, pineapple, mango, papaya. If I have them, fresh apples, citus, or strawberries are good too. Or dried apricots. If you're looking to get away from making it a sugar rush, you can always use a little kale or other green leafy veggies, or some carrots. Whole thing shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to prepare.
Salads should be pretty easy as well. I don't tend to like the pre-mixed packages but there's no reason you can't use them to save time, as long as you move through them fairly quickly (tey tend to go bad faster than other stuff). If you're making your own, try an easy one like -one romaine head, chopped -one tomato, chopped -one small cucumber, chopped -a handful of spinach, Tuscan kale, arugula, etc. -some Craisins -some croutons, sunflower seeds, granola, whatever
get some decent olive oil and a good balsamic and you can't ask for better.
All making me look forward to gardening. Got the first round of spinach, kale, mache, bok choy, arugula, peas, carrots and beets in the ground last weekend... just a few weeks until the early greens or asparagus comes in. ------- so I'm in a band now: album ---> http://greenwoodburns.bandcamp.com/releases Soundcloud ---> http://soundcloud.com/greenwood-burns
