It's peak Caucasity, but I don't object to it on principal. You won't find me at any parades or pubs, though.

working this past weekend. They know I like to party - I showed out on the dance floor at a coworker's wedding last year - so they were puzzled as to why SP's Day is a nonevent for me.

I am not comfortable being around so many extraordinarily outrageously drunk white ppl. So I skip partying in bars and parades for the holiday.

fuck you.

When I was in school, we used to roll with our white friends to some pub or St. Patrick's Day event. It was an all-day, marathon of drinking.

I don't think I've done anything since I graduated & started working.

i really hated it in HS. i went to catholic school. you do the math.

and living on LI taking the LIRR on a day like today is a nightmare. they ban booze on the train on this day now. honestly i pretty much am shielded from it. only that short stint with me working in midtown by the parade route. otherwise i don't have to be around it.

i just hate the drunkenness and crowds but i also avoid other events for the same reason

if we're going to celebrate ethnicity, lets celebrate all of them. aka...Juneteenth should be just as recognized. Mexican independence day as well (and Cinco de mayo doesn't fucking count.) we shouldn't just celebrate the Irish. and especially since its just an excuse for everyone to get excessively drunk.

I have to admit, white folk were very friendly last night, and had I been single, there was a lot of ass to be had. That said, I wasn't completely comfortable, and I usually have no problem with predominantly white nightlife.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Last time I kicked it was in an Irish bar in Midtown filled with firemen. My group was mixed; my one alcoholic friend hit on a girl who's husband was there. The N word was thrown many times, my white cop friend pulls out his badge telling the firemen to calm down they SLAP it out of his hand, tell him to go fuck himself, and start the pushing.

Bouncers swoop in and threw US out; they admitted the firemen were too thick in the place to even attempt to control and they just did it to get us out safely and avoid getting fucked up themselves.

Was telling a friend Saturday night, I feel weird drinking around DC while people. I don't enjoy going anywhere that has such a large black population but so few black people at the space I'm in & that's constantly happening in DC.

No hate... I just don't feel comfortable around really drunk white folks. Seems like someone drunk always has some slick, smarmy shit to say that I'm not sure if it's an insult or not. And all the fucking yelling. It's better if I stay away.

sure, ppl drink more than normal.
but that's not the REASON they are out.

they want to put on costumes,
maybe have more sex than normal.

but the purpose is not to go out and get drunk.

new years eve and st patricks day
has no other purpose than to get ppl that never drink
to drink a lot.

and non-drinkers really have no idea how to live this life.
i mean, look at st. patricks day.

is it ever not awful?

i'll be back in the bar tomorrow with
all the sane ppl.

26. "There is something unique about SP's Day."
In response to Reply # 24

I party with white ppl regularly. And we get super wasted, even. But on SPD it's different. It's edgier - I fear a riot could break out at any moment. I don't enjoy it. Plus all the other times I drink with white ppl the focus isn't so much about out of control drinking and drunkenness. I can't put my finger on it.

fuck you.

Like in boxing, where Irish is often used as shorthand for "white"

It's in the air. It's like 'their day' to be race proud after we had a whole month. I may be projecting - maybe we all are doing so. But I feel it.

fuck you.

In response to Reply # 26

a group of ppl doing a bar crawl
have some idea about their limits.

it's like the ppl drinking on st patricks day WANT
to drink until they don't have control of themselves.

maybe they saw drunk ppl having fun in movies
and assumed if they drink all the beer they will be interesting ppl.

no. you are a danger to yourself and others.

go home.

also, i think i can feel racism more on st patricks day.
i can't put my finger on it, either.

but i hate the holiday.

this past weekend by a white friend.

-It took 2.5 hours to get there from where I was (west suburbs) as they shut down Lake Shore Drive and I was stuck getting funneled up Michigan.

-Spent 45 mins looking for parking.

-Everything on Clark/Addison/Racine was madness with loud, drunken white bols and chix dressed in goofy green outfits.

-Missed all the 'in-house' drinking at my friends place and had to meet him at a bar that was 75% full but a line around the corner. He was already inside but we had to stand in line to get in...that is unless I wanted to bribe the bouncer with a $50. After standing in line for 25 mins and seeing it barely move, watching a few chics cut in line and get immediate entry and a guy across the street at another bar get hemmed up by security and arrested afterward...I decided to punt on the event.

With good judgment based on this:

the lines got blurred and we werent sure if we were in too deep. our last attempt we were just too old and corny to even mockingly participate properly and just got drunk at the emptiest bar we could find in our usual un-festive way.

great holiday if you're into white women, though.

people think they're doing Ireland justice cause the word Irish is in the drink, but knowing a whole bunch of real people from Ireland...they hate that shit. my fresh off the boat Irish bartender friend won't make em at all. year round. says he's lost people he knew to car bombs. he calls them something some American muppet came up with.

I was in grad school in Chicago, and coming back off of Spring Break. Met a some grad school buddies in a bar in the North Side. Crazy, but manageable. Also, that was the first and last night I ever drank jager.

My mom went out to run some errands and shit today and she was borderline disgusted lol. She was especially peeved that in the little downtown area she went to, all the boozed up patrons were white and, despite having drink specials, the mexican and japanese restaurants were totally empty while everything else was full.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
