Student Who Bullied Bus Monitor In 2012 Is Now Accused Of Forcing A Special-Needs Classmate To Drink Urine
A high school student in Greece, N.Y. who allegedly forced a special-needs classmate to drink urine out of a toilet was also involved in the bullying of an elderly bus monitor in 2012 which went viral.
Upon hearing news of the tormented special-needs student, the bullied bus monitor, Karen Klein, told WHEC, “I don’t believe this is happening again.”
Earlier this week it was reported that three students at Greece Athena High School in upstate New York confronted the special-needs student in the bathroom and forced him to hold his crotch while drinking urine from the toilet. The students filmed the incident and posted video of it Snapchat, a social media site.
Other students at the high school reported the video, and police and school administrators began investigating the heinous act.
Amid the investigation, WHEC learned that one of the bathroom bullies was also one of the four student who, as a 7th grader in June 2012, verbally assaulted Klein, then a 68-year-old school district bus monitor.
Video of the harassment, which has more than 9 million views on YouTube, showed the students calling Klein a “fat-ass” and telling her that her family “all killed themselves, because they didn’t want to be near you.”
Klein’s son had committed suicide 10 years prior to the incident.
The bullying brought Klein to tears and outraged the nation. She received more than $700,000 in donations from around the world.
WHEC contacted Klein to get her response to the news of the recent bullying incident.
“I don’t believe this is happening again,” she said.
“They didn’t learn any lessons from the other ordeal. I don’t think they ever will.”
The principal of Greece Athena high school sent a letter to parents about the incident on Thursday.
“While as a District, we cannot comment specifically on individual student discipline cases, we can say that students found to be involved will face strong and appropriate consequences as well as remedial actions designed to help them understand the inappropriateness of their behavior,” the principal, David Richardson, said in a statement.
