Yeah, but unless you are a full-time clergy member with an active 501c3, being ordained is not going to help.

harder than I ever imagined it would be
I thought u said I do compromise here and there and live a happy life

no that's not the case... this shit is like the thesis of your life and it's always changing the parts are moving and feelings change...

the other thing I learned is it's worth it... I wouldn't trade this for anything...

I know i'll NEVER do it again but this is great...

I got a good life man

You are not lying. People don't realize that you have to work sun up to sun down to make your marriage work. I read that after that initial time of love sickness wears off, you have to choose to keep loving your spouse. And that is totally true.

Marriage is work. And, people shouldn't believe things get easier just because you get married. It actually gets harder.

i talked up reparations among a group of older white hippies...the looks on faces...hilarious. but its #stillmoving

i dunno man. it'll be what it is

does it really matter?

wonder what bin's doing?

I feel like I need something super cathartic to happen
--
I wish my head wasn't so big that I could rock wigs..I find that waay too often I need a disguise but my hair gives me away everytime and head wraps can only take me so far
--

My grandma was laying on her bed with her legs crossed in the air and reading a card. She looked so adorable (she's 99 and like 5 ft even) I found myself staring attempting to 'save' this scene in my mind ..I feel like so many of my memories of her have been eroded by her dementia-induced abusive behaviour. Often when I think of her I only think of the lady who hits me and calls me names I forget the lady who would go on school trips with me and do arts and crafts with me-probably cause she hasn't been around for a long time. I get so angry at my family cause I think its not fair -its not fair that my memories get ruined-its not fair that I take more care of her than her own children. A year ago one of my aunts said to me "you must really enjoy helping mommy" I said "no" she said "then why do you do it?"--this really stuck with me
----
Anytime I wonder why I sometimes have a different sense of humour I have to remember I come from odd ppl ex. Yesterday I asked my mom to plug in my laptop for me (since she was close to an outlet),she proceeded to put the plug in her ear to which I replied "geez..well I guess my laptop will take over an hour to charge now..call me when it's done" and I walked away
we both cracked up a minute later

The love of a caregiver. Its hard work. I commend you for what you do. I couldn't do it any longer. I'm technically still a caregiver, its just that she's not living with us right now and I don't have to do it every day.

I know why you do it. Its love. Plain and simple. I did it out of love and I felt like I had to because no one else would. Now, as much as I love my mother in law, you couldn't pay me to live with that woman.

so my uncle is turning 80 next month and the fam is throwing him a big ol' party. i have been asked to make a dessert table and of course it will be fabulous. someone else has been tasked with the remainder of the party decor. someone who is trying to build up her event planning portfolio. well, her taste regarding some things is just tacky and i judge everything she pins to the group board like ooooh no. i'm keeping my mouth shut bc i wasn't asked to handle that but on the other hand i don't want my cousins to waste money on tacky stuff. i'm not sure if i should say anything. but they know how i am so maybe i should.

A) I have a job interview in 3 hours. I'm not nervous about it, which makes me a little nervous.
It's just for a part-time coffee gig, so it's not like this is make or break.
But I did some refreshment studying last night and felt this sense of calm, like, "I got this."
The last time I was this confident about a job interview, though, I got a rejection letter in the mail.
I had less than $0.50 in my bank account at that time. I got a great job 2 weeks later though.

B) I don't know how to let go of my hurt/resentment/anger/disappointment over my awful college experience.
I still catch feelings whenever I hear or see anything to do with Howard and/or UF.
It's the one thing I just can't get past. I was so miserable and just... I feel like that period of my life was just a complete waste.

A) You will get the job. Know it and embrace it. Smile and be personable, be very friendly and outgoing.

B) The past is inaccessible. If you dwell on it, you will be unable to be present. You are literally chasing your own tail, and you will never catch it. The past is dead. You must have learned something from your experience as every experience has something to offer. Find the silver lining and remember that only.

But the present is so shitty, I *don't* want to be here in it.
And it seems like every 5 minutes I'm being slapped in the face with a "If only I had..."
Even studying mindfulness, actively working on forgiveness... nothing is helping this.
Therapy isn't even helping this. It's the one stone I can't stop carrying around.

I understand. I have been there, believe me. I never finished school as I got into a lot of trouble, hung out with the wrong people, drank and did drugs, etc. I had a good job right out of high school and did not prepare myself for a level of professionalism that I now know exists. I also foolishly thought my job would last forever, but it did not.

I started working in the service industry and I was not happy about my life path or the minimal amount of money I was making. My parents kicked me out and I lived on my gf's couch for a long time trying to scrape pennies together to get high, it was a shitty time in my life. I got fed up with living in such a horrible state and took my education into my own hands.

I went online and started taking HTML/CSS courses, as well as design courses. It was a lot easier than I expected. I started looking on craigslist for small jobs, and one small freelance job led to another. All the experience and struggle led me to my current job. I am the head of the design/marketing department and have been given free reign to build it as I see fit. I am making really great money and I finally earned my medical benefits which I will be receiving next month. My boss told me know that my earning potential is 85k/year. I am not there yet but I am on pace and doing very well. I am going on my first vacation to Costa Rica in 2 month's, and I not only paid for myself, but for my gf as well. I have more money than I have ever had and more is coming in the pipeline.

I picked a profession, which is graphic and web design, and I took online courses on:

www.lynda.com
http://teamtreehouse.com/

It started out really slow and now I can't keep up with all the work people want to pay me for. This month I am making $3k extra on top of my regular pay check. It's all within your reach if you are willing to go after it. Let go of the past, pick something, and start learning.

we focus hella hard on how they've affected us negatively, but we never think about how those early bad experiences may have taught us some lessons that others won't get until much much later.

Accept the past for what it was, but know that it WAS.

I just can't say shit
I'm amazed, scared, excited
By what he can do
He has made me a very happy person
I'm just speechless

So one of my new friends
Doesn't know how to drink around men
When it's just the girls
She is cool
But let it be coed drinking...nah
The first time she almost got into a fight
With a guy and his sister
And she was feeling on his friend
Last week she feeling on him and another friend!
I was worried if she interacted w anyone
Outside of our group she was going to
Start some shit
I finally had to pull her aside and take her home
I don't want her to become my responsibility every time we go out

I accomplished what I set out to do by moving here. Get a stable career with growth opportunity, get professionally certified, get healthy, find a good partner, get financially stable.

I think my next steps will be to improve my credit, get my next certification and maybe a masters, find a place to live for the next 3-5 years, learn some new things (be it instrument, coding, a trade, or language), compete in a race (looking at a duathlon), and present some art.

We'll see. I've accomplished things but don't feel accomplished, if that makes sense.

namely find a good partner and get healthy (well I'm healthy enough according to my doctor but I want to not be fat).

But I also want to leave new york... soon. Like in the next year or so. I have a line on something and I'm being patient but if I can make it work, it will be life-changing.

im struggling with this so much and have been for some time.
have a few goals, but nothing that gets me excited. im not trying to have goals just to have goals (and not say there isn't things that I need to try to accomplish), but none of them are too interesting to me.
and that leaves me in what feels like a perpetual rut. dunno what to do about it.

it was a perfect storm of madness that i think only now i'm starting to wade out of. i'm exhausted but also amazed by how much was accomplished.

i moved, i navigated weird family stuff as well as i could, tending to a dying grandmother, my best friend's pregnancy, work is the busiest we've ever been and we're set financially through 2016 - it's all positive.

but it came at a huge emotional and physical toll. the gym don't know who i am, migraines a plenty and i'm testy as fuck. i was so busy that i didn't even realize we've had the coldest winter on record. i legit didn't even clock that. i was in a constant haze where at any time a million things were running through my mind. sleep was just a resting period during which i'd dream about all the stuff that i'm juggling lol.

anyway - all that to say that i think i'm slowly starting to see calmer waters. and the summer will be much more fun thanks to the work i put in this winter. cannot wait.

But I expected it anyways

Anytime a chick who doesn't live with a dude insists on going to his home to get her "things" really she's going there to be convinced to stay.

When you done you either a) say screw it and leave your things/tell him to throw them out OR b) you tell that dude to give you your stuff or c)send a friend to get your things for you

What you don't do is drive there at night to supposedly get your things and disappear for five hours

Again..those who don't hear must feel

She had a 50 mile non-compete agreement, meaning we gotta relocate.

She has offers on the table in DC and Chicago. I have a standing offer in Chicago with my old employer. She's leaning towards the DC offer. I want to be supportive, but I hate the idea of moving to DC. We can go back to Chicago with very little change to our quality life (downgrade from 4br house to 3br condo), but in DC we'd be either looking at 2BR apts with two kids, living out in bumfuck...or worse, PG County.

It's a tough position because she makes more money, and at any given time there aren't more than 4-5 open positions for her in the entire country.

even in your thoughts....
Arlington is literally the bottom left quadrant of the DC diamond. Like...you can't be any closer to DC than Arlington...literally. Even if you're on the DC border anywhere in MD...you're still outside of the diamond.

Not trying to be a salesman....but I just like to save folks from the same mistakes we made when we moved up here.

Also...take private school out of the equation if you're in Arlington. Hell...really...the only places inside the beltway you'd even need to consider private school would be IN DC proper or adjacent PG county. Even with that said, there are allegedly pretty decent Charter Schools in both of those jurisdictions..

not many, and they're on the outer edges of Arlington. We've become used to being able to walk or take mass transit everywhere, so anything off the Metro seems far-flung to us.

Be considered far-flung is the upper NW corner near Chain Bridge....and those are like multi-multi-million dollar houses...that double Multi is NOT a typo lol....

Based on the price you mentioned....sounds like you're in the southern portion of Arlington south of Rt.50. The bus system HEAVILY blankets that region, and is arguably more convenient and reliable than the metro. Just like DC's subway....you can't put the DC Metro Bus system in the same category as buses you might be familiar with in other major cities.... A bus ride in Arlington is better than the best cab ride in NYC....

You can walk and take mass transit in nearly every corner of Arlington. Check the walk scores.

Just holla at me if/when you have any detailed questions about neighborhoods, we can build....

When you do your searches; focus around the Columbia Pike corridor.

I won't lie, you aren't going to be getting anything CLOSE to a grand estate or even a modest sized house... You're gonna get up to about 1200sf. that's gonna need some updating. The higher the S.F., the more work it's likely going to need.

But...Columbia Pike is the current high priority corridor for development and growth. The 16 Bus line that serves the pike has a frequency that's unmatched anywhere in the county. A bus to Pentagon Pentagon City every 8-10 min. during peak hours and 15-20min during off-peak hours.

Pentagon & Pentagon City are Yellow Line and only 1-2 stops from L'Enfant Plaza in the District. It's the fastest metro line INTO DC.

Walkability...just check the Google maps and you'll see what's around. We own 1 car that the entire family can travel in.(The 2nd car is an antique convertible so the little can't ride in it). I commute by bike, and the wife commutes by bus. We put MAYBE 8,000 miles on the vehicle/year. And that's stretching it.

It takes me 20min to my office in DC by bike.
It's a 5-10 min drive to Constitution Ave. by car with no traffic...15-20min with traffic.
4 Grocery stores within a 2 mile radius.

the list goes on....

Most neighborhoods in Arlington have the same stats.

seems like the only way you could get to Chicago is to convince her your combined income trumps her income and you looking for a job.

but if she makes much more... DC it is.

I don't think private school needs to be in the equation if oyu find a good area in DMV.

i can trace the origin of why

but as i left a meeting yesterday for a new DJ opp that will pay decently and potentially link me into a new venue to open later this year that is going to be awesome

all i could think about is how/why it won't last

which is sad
then i had to remind myself that someone recommended me for this without a second thought
because they believe in me

and i need to stop letting stupid people who do dumb shit to me affect how i move forward

i had a pretty charmed life until about 2010. that's not a bad run. lol

but shit isn't as sweet but far more beautiful

and im also slightly scared but really excited about my trip to montreal
hotel booked finally

i'm shy and i'm hoping to put that aside for a weekend and meet all these djs/producers im travelling to check out.

I took this job because of 1. The pay and 2. It's in the home industry and that's my passion. The schedule here really allows me the time and money to work on starting my own business. The salary is great but it's not CRAZY money. Had I known precisely what they wanted me to do, I may not have taken this job. For real.

I feel so cheated and forced to do something I really don't want to. I had such high hopes for this position and am SO not looking forward to getting back out there looking for a new job. ;-( Likelihood of me finding a comparable job willing to pay me this much without stress is unlikely.

sigh... I'm trying to suck it up but it sucks. I'm now head of Corporate Sales. Huh?

My hubby is having this issue. He was hired thinking he was going to do one thing, but they have changed how they want to do things at the company and they want to transition him into something completely way from what he wants. He's an Software Architect, and they want him basically to be a High Level Technical Sales guy. Totally not what he wants. Soooooooo....it looks like he will back on the market. The good news is that he's always getting job offers and it looks like he can find something that actually pays him what he's worth and in what he wants to do.

i was meeting for the first time. i dont know what to make of that so im just not making anything of it. ball is in his court im tired of wondering and hoping.
but it was great to see everybody and see his uncle home.

...i kinda love my job. wish i had more stable childcare so that the hours and pay made more sense. its good for the time being though. im making SOMETHING and thats way better than the nothing i was making before.

...twitter is making me hate people. time to unfollow some folks again.

...need to hurry up and get a damn side view mirror for my car. altho my brothers car got a cd player in it i actually miss my car lol

I think I need to put this on a t-shirt.

I feel accomplished. I have gotten my almost 3 year old to ride her tricycle properly. And, she's getting better with the potty training. And, I was able to blog and wash clothes today. Coolness.

And, I'm looking forward to the end of the month. Its the munchkin's birthday and it turns out we are heading to Michigan for the week of her birthday. And, the following weekend, we are going to the beach so she can go swimming She loves to go swimming.

Actually, I got two jobs. They offered me extra hours at another shop too.

This isn't the full-time start of my career or anything, but it's just what I need right now.
With going back and forth to the doctor all the time and all this uncertainty in my life,
having guaranteed minimum hours but the opportunity for more, plus a foot in the door
to a place I've been trying to get into for years now... this is just what I need.

I am so grateful and happy right now.

To everyone that's prayed for me, or wished me luck or even just had a
fleeting kind thought to my situation, know that it is very much appreciated.

Waste of time and money.

I can counsel you right now. For free. How do you feel?

A complete stranger is going to listen to you talk for 50 min for thousands of weeks and somehow unravel your bullshit? Yeah right.

Your issues are yours. They are there for a reason. You know why and how and when and what to do. If you can't do it when you tell yourself to, why do you think you would because someone else did?

People who say you need counseling dont understand you and lack the ability to do so. #minuswell keep them in that superficial surface level fake smile "oh hi, yes weathers great!" bs bag.

I really feel like its' important for POC to serve on jury duty, especially for criminal cases and grand jury trials and ESPECIALLY after all the shit that popped off in the past two years...people keep complaining that shit won't change but guess what, those ppl got let off because the JURY decided that the evidence wasn't enough. The JURY. Not the lawyers or the judges or the cops. The JURY. and I think if POC are more active in that process and show that it's not something to duck and dodge, we can start making sure that less of us are locked up.

I say all that to say...I was happy when I got jury duty. It really doesn't bother me. and the plus is that I get a reprieve from traveling to and from the bronx every day for work.

i can do so much more getting home at 5/530 than getting home at 7/730. Those two hours are SUCH a big difference. I can come home, relax, prepare my things for tomorrow, go to yoga class, some back and COOK dinner and it will be like 830/9. Right now by the time I Get home and get settled, it's already 8. and then its like...if i go to yoga, i won't be home by 930. and i damn sure aint cooking that late at night.

Had duty a few months back..
they were trying to hem this Black woman up on DUI charges...
officer was talking all big during his portion of the trial...talkin about he didn't even need to say much of anything about the case because the video he had demonstrated everything CLEARLY and we'd have not problem coming to the verdict of guilty...

mannnn listenn...
we watched his lil rinky dink video like "Uhhhh....where's this smokin gun he was goin on about????"

Get back in the deliberation room....and THESE folks are actually trying to put more weight on the officer's rinky dink verbal presentation and NOT the video evidence that he presented. Basically they were on some "WHY would a cop lie?? He MUST have had a valid reason!"

Yeah....I did my best to shut that shit DOWN..... it was me and 1 other Black guy.. This was RIGHT around when Ferguson stuff blew up...and I lightweight think THEY were trying to proove a point and they alluded to thinking that me and the OTHER Black guy were trying to proove a point....

I shut THAT shit down too... point blank....was like "Nah, this ain't about that...this is about the video evidence that the DA rested his case one. We make our verdict off the evidence presented, NOT speculation or anything else."

Verdict was Not Guilty.

I rock with him on the strength of him being a Black man...but other than that....some of his politics don't really align with mine...
But the blatant disrespect of his office and rank is what really pisses me off.
It's weird, because if I stick up for him from that standpoint...folks want to immediately assume i'm an Obama Stan...but i'm not...
I just feel like when they disrespecting HIM...they disrespecting ALL Black folks...just because...
i dunno...
I feel you though...

I almost feel like they are testing Black folks too.
To see how we are gonna react if something major happens to Mr. Obama.

I dont expect every black person to fall in line with him or his policies. Thats just not realistic. Nobody has that level of autonomy over their entire race, nor shouldn't. But it seems every week theyre some notable "unprecedented" action taken against him and his administration, to the point of aligning with ANYONE that disagrees with him. From Putin to Netanayahu to appealing to an arabic nation like Iran, a country that they would love to be at war with, there seems to be no ends to their level of attempting to shame the twice duly elected Commander in Chief of this nation. He sets the foreign policy for the nation, like every President before him and they have no respect for his authority to do so. Imagine Senators sending a letter to our enemy Russia in the 80s to undermine Reagan's nuclear negotiations to reduce arms and eventually end the Cold War. This country would have never accepted that then. Those Senators would have been looked upon as treasonous and they probably would have been censured by a Congressional Ethics Board then.

I wonder how many times, during Obama's 2 terms, Boehner has heard Obama called the n-word in the numerous private Repub caucuses, that are relentless, unwavering, and predicatable in their defiance in this President?

Sick of these racist bastards and their bs.

Started a new job at the beginning of December & have been working like a dog. Averaging 55-60 hours a week. Everyone talks about the overtime, but I'm not trying to work this hard at this point in my life. Not to mention, I'm not doing the job I was hired for....its all budget, all the time.

Someone very close to me died a few weeks ago & I haven't had a chance to really mourn her because I've been so busy with work. A huge part of my life is gone & even though I was there when she passed, there are days I can't believe she's gone. She was the only person who loved me unconditionally, even when I was at my worse. Never really imagined my life without her.

I've cut myself off from the people around me. I don't have the energy to deal with people. Not mad at anyone, just tired, numb and just don't have the energy to engage but the kicker is I'm lonely & don't want to continue like this, but I don't know how to turn it around.

My life is so much fun it's crazy lol. I do a weekly event now
where I actually make less $ but I'm getting experience throwing
events and it's going amazing!

I had a roommate for a month helping a friend out. So glad to have
the house to myself again lol.

I need a vacation. SXSW it is I guess lol.

Starting a couple online businesses, can't wait.

My last event gave a lot of exposure to young talent. It felt so good
to see the excitement and hunger they had in performing and meeting
likeminded artists they never met before.

I have a day job and other paying gigs, I would juggle this internship as a foot in the door

but it was a scheduled phone conversation that turned into a formal interview, I thought my credentials would have been enough to skip that but I guess not

meanwhile I may be getting paid to attend a conference next week. slow motion is better than none
