"I GOT INTO GRAD SCHOOL!!!!! wooooooooooo!!!"

Just got my email acceptance letter...from NYU Wagner. I'm going for a Masters in Public Administration, with a concentration in Public and Nonprofit Management & Policy. I start in the Fall of 2015.

NYU also awarded me a $9000/year Public Service merit scholarship...i'll only get half of that per year because i'm going part time, but still...that's fantastic

first hurdle is that they want $1000 deposit by April 15...ugh. we are at break even financially right now so I'll have to ask them for an extension...

i'm going to make it happen though. All of it. Back to school at 44!!!!

great teachers

it's tough but seriously make the most of it if you can. as a part time student you don't really get to be as involved but try. try as much as you can. learn about the profs and get in good with the ones doing what you want to do. take the special classes you have to apply to get into and work your butt off in them. i took one that ended up landing me the job i got out of school and it also landed me the writing prize Wagner gives out at graduation every year

and students your age aren't unusual there. at least it wasn't when i was there. not that you look your age anyway. lol

I have a bunch of questions

and thanks! it's exciting and scary...and yeah i plan to involve myself as much as i possibly can. as an undergrad at NYU, i was completely in love with the school and it's atmosphere and all my professors were amazing. i'm beyond thrilled to be a part of all that again...whenever i'm in the village, i wish i could go hang out in 1 of the buildings or Bobst etc

so i'm geeked as hell. and student ID = mad discounts lol

lots of people go to Wagner working for city agencies so I was on the younger end of the middle group age-wise. I started when I was 26. definitely a lot of folks straight from undergrad but a lot of folks with 5-15 years of work experience under their belts

more ppl used to work before law school but it's becoming less common. and even ppl who work first tend not to work for as long as i did - i waited 9 yrs. and i was in the full-time program - there were more older students in the part-time.

i called myself a triple diversity threat - black, gay, and older. i worked it for scholarships and grants too. lol

if the school wanted your exam score to make its admission decision they likely would've required the score w/your application. they'd have contacted you during the admission process inquiring about your exam score.

if that didn't happen i think it's all good.

or, again, if that letter says the school's admission offer is contingent on receipt of your score then i think you'll have to take the exam(s). otherwise i dunno. i think you're fine though.

fuck you.

unless your acceptance letter states that the school's offer is contingent on receipt of your GRE/GMAT score then i'd think it's all good and you don't have to take either exam.

i myself would never want to be god,or even like god.Because god got all these human beings on this planet and i most certainly would not want to be responsible for them, or even have the disgrace that i made them.
