my wife's side of the family is big as shit on both sides. family reunions on my FIL side are bangin'! huge cookout every summer and we take over a hotel downtown near the holidays.

Depends on how big the hotel is.

I guess we have a distinctive look?

My family is from Georgia. My parents are children of sharecroppers. They had lots and lots of CHIRN.

One of my uncles and his wife had 14 kids together... so their kids and grandkids can take up half the hotel just on their own. Once we start adding in other uncles, aunts, cousins and their kids we may actually need a FEW hotels.

LOTS of cousins. Especially on my mom's side. My maternal grandfather was one of 11 children. And most of them and their families still live in/around Chicago, so we're all somewhat close. We get together on Xmas Eve and it's usually about 60 of us (including all the kids and babies and such) under one roof. We're actually gonna start planning our bigger family reunion next weekend.

My dad's fam is pretty extensive too, but the immediate family units tend to be a bit smaller and they seem to wait a lot longer to have kids, so it's a lot less prolific. Plus everyone's a bit more geographically spread out. To contrast, my one grandmother has 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grands, and my other grandmother has 5 grandchildren and no great-grands.

on my pops side it's fairly large. he was 1 of 8 & 6 of them had 2-4 kids each.

not very close to my mom's side although every now & then my grandma will mention a random ass person saying it's my cousin so & so
