but I have no clue of what a slave mentality is and to me "good christians" are just normal people who dont wear it on their sleeve. so I just tried to narrow down traits of a healthy functioning human, hoping she can tie it to her faith

Live without labels. Free yourself.

"Perhaps the whole of our trouble, the human trouble, is that we will sacrifice all the beauty of our lives, will imprison ourselves in totems, taboos, crosses, blood sacrifices, steeples, mosques, races, armies, flags, nations in order to deny the fact of death, which is the only fact we have. It seems to me that one ought to rejoice in the fact of death- ought to decide, indeed, to earn one’s death by confronting with passion the conundrum of life." James Baldwin.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

whether they christians or not some people will still have a slave mentality...

and you will always be a slave to something in life. Jesus says be a slave for god and not riches.

There is nothing wrong with that but black people have a bad history with the word "slave" so it can be difficult to reconcile. I would advise you to look up the word slave in the bible and start there.

maybe that will help you to understand how it is used in the bible from a christianity standpoint.

You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

A Christian, regardless of race or color is a slave to Christ Jesus, but the context in which you made this post leaves many to assume poorly, because you have not provided the responsible context.

slave mentality is about having an inferiority complex
i see that all the time in christian churches. ppl thinking the pastor shit doesn't stink and treating him (and his family) like demi gods almost

for the purposes of this discussion i think the definition should be expanded to include herd mentality and a culture where you are encouraged to accept whatever you are told

i disagree that 'OKP' as a whole or even a majority has a feeling on this issue. but if so i think if 'OKP' has more affinity for Muslims it's b/c they're the other, the underdog, the relatively disenfranchised.

i don't get the feeling that 'OKP' has a particularly nuanced or well-informed base of knowledge about Islam. i think the affinity is more about the treatment of Muslims here and in certain parts of Europe than it's about any particular feeling about Islam itself.

fuck you.

And by we I mean new world Africans who came over here as slaves. Outside of Ethiopia and Kongo Christianity was a tool of subjugation and control.

Muslims enslaved West Africans too...but West Africans weren't brought to Islam through conquest. To the contrary those Islamic West African society did some conquering themselves.

In the Islamic world we can see a history that includes kingdoms and Empires. In Christianity you can point to East Africa and the Congo Basin but few of us came from those areas.

That second part is simply not true.

The rest of the underdog sentiment is true but don't drag down your position by going ahistorical. I'd rather not derail or distract so lets not go there.

I don't mean how it became ubiquitous, I mean how did it first arrive?

Where there already muslims in Senegal before it was spread by the sword?
I'm sorry. I should have been more clear. I was saying that in West Africa it was just outside groups conquering and converting. Senegal was made Muslim by internal groups if I'm not mistaken. And it was at the sword so I shouldn't have been so vague.

I didn't mean it was never spread through conquest in subsaharan Africa. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Where did it spread through conquest below the Sahara in West Africa after the conquests to the north but before missionaries went south?

Anyway, I get why I was called out. I'm not trying to give Islam a pass, but I don't see a 1:1 comparison between how West Africans were introduced to the two. And that isn't to say one is better or more connected to us, just that it might influence how we see the two historically.

there are a gang of ppl that that case_one's politics,
theological views, and philosophy are right on target.

and they tell him so,
while vocally critizing folks thay criticize him.

then there are other christians who are level headed, good ppl
but still obviously chritian.

abby

ted

by my count, there aren't more than 10 atheists that post regularly.
and that's being generous.

most of the board is made up of christians.
and they make a vocal presense.

they christians are much more vocal than the atheists.

btw, case has plenty of supporters whenever he's on one.

he also has opposition from ppl that are christians,
but feel he is an asshole making their religion look bad.

and finally, plenty of posters are vocal, unapologetic christians.

christianity is the default here. not that there's anything wrong with that.

keep flailing and failing. The Pentateuch, and Septuagint which are basically the foundations of Christianity Predate the Roman Empire. The Greeks with the help of Ancient Egyptian priest compiled these books from the writings and philosophies/knowledge of KMT at least hundreds of years prior to the roman empire(Julius Ceasar).

(Edit is to point out this was all done in EGYPT at various temples and libraries see library of Alexandria which the barbaric romans burned down.

The Romans twisted Christianity as a tool for power and conversion but the concepts, practices were already there.

The romans slaughtered early Christians.

For one i wasnt even talking about the fuckin Roman Empire, i was talking about the Church of Rome, which had primacy over the Church of Alexandria. If you had any comprehensional ability, my intentional use of "successors to st peter" would hace tipped you off to that.

For two, the pentateuch came from the Israelites and was written during the babylonian exile. Not in egypt with the greeks.

For three, the septuagint was nothing but a greek translation of the talmud for Hellenistic Jews. Written by Jews for Jews, commissioned by the Greek king of egypt Ptolemy II. Not "egyptian priests".

For four, the early african christians were part of the same Christianity as the church of Rome and the Church of Antioch. They did NOT predate the papacy of St. Peter, the founder of the Church of Rome. Peter's papacy began in 30 AD. Coptic tradition holds that the Church of Alexandria was founded in 42 AD. So by that Math, your "original" Christians predate the papacy of St. Peter by *negative* 12 years. The Christian church maintained its cohesiveness through the Council of Nicea in 325 which reinforced the primacy of the Church of Rome, led by the successors to...ST PETER. In 451, the churches you speak of broke away from the leadership of the Bishop of Rome for 2 reasons. One of them was a disagreement between Alexandria and the rest of Christianity on the dual human/divine nature of Christ. The other was that the Bishop of Alexandria was upset that the Council elevated the Church of Constantinople above the Church of Alexandria in terms of stature.

There is actual history for you.
