I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it’s alright, you are forgiven.

Casting a shadow on the retina
When light hits those photoreceptors, photopigments (protein complexes) are broken down into smaller protein components and the molecular "garbage" just floats around in there

In floaters is a symptom of retina detachment a medical emergency that can result in blindness. If you have a bunch your retinas may be weak and you may be at risk for a tear that would cause a detachment.
I had. Post surgery on both eyes, not really. I think I had one last time I was at my retina specialist.

and the following day i got 'uveitis'. for a couple of weeks i was in extreme pain from being in the light then the pain went away but i had blurred vision and mad floaties in both eyes after about a month of eye dropping some meds my eye sight went back to normal. no more floaties. i think i'm a lil more sensitive to light than i was prior tho.

and i was leaving for a 7 month long trip the next week. so i said eff it lemme see a doc quick. turns out i had a detached retina. i had emergency surgery the next morning. if i waited much longer i could have gone blind in that eye. right now my peripheral vision is slightly diminished. but the other eye compensates just fine. i was lucky
15. "question, how often do you see your retina surgeon?" In response to Reply # 13
for followups. i was going twice a year with my old doctor. but he passed away. now i've been seeing his son for about 2 years once a year. i wonder if i should be going twice a year but at $350 a pop i'm okay with going once a year if that's standard.

A new one showed up last year and I went to see a Dr about immediately. He told me there was no threat and everything looked normal. He mentioned some doctors use to repair them with lasers in the past but they no longer do it because its just not necessary.
