As long as the cuts are done by a good barber, I see barbers doing all kinds of cuts at this point. Everything - bald fades, ceasars, high tops, nappy/neat fros done with twist sponges, burst fades, tapers, etc.

There was a good chunk of the 2000's when the only people rocking low fades were older men or young cats in areas that were behind the times.
But a couple things have happened in the last 5-6 years. First "retro" became a style in and of itself - not just a specific old style coming back but rocking something that was retro to any given period. Second - most barbers across the nation have stepped their game up. Mainly because of social media - barbers have instagrams where they post hot cuts, and there are tons of Youtube tutorials showing barbers exactly how to do them. That's completely broken down regional barriers.
So now you can rock whatever you want, as long as the barber had some skills, and it'll be in style.

In Detroit I saw it everywhere among cats my age and up plus a lil younger. In 2003 I flew to Chicago for an interview with the federal government and almost all of the professional bruhs were rockin low cut fades of some sort. We moved to PHX in 2003 and how you wore your hair depended on where you were in life with professional dudes typically rockin low fades.
