on the Comedy Central re-run blocks, which meant while Ferrell and Oteri and the rest were on I was mainly watching the Myers/Sandler cast over and over and over, and then when Fey and Poehler and Forte were on I was watching Ferrell and Oteri.
So I've never been caught up in the casts at their most popular until about the Sudeikis eras, so I feel like I kind of missed something with all the greats of my childhood.
That said, if I were speaking from my childhood which was when I truly deeply cared about SNL, it's either Hartman or Farley. Hartman because he made me feel smart without seeming condescending the way Miller could (though I will definitely say Miller was one of the best cast members during his seasons, bad contemporary reputation be damned) and Farley because if you were a farting, ball slapping elementary school kid in the 90s Farley was absolutely everything.

Will gets most of the publicity from that era but those 3 helped hold the show down too.
