I don't care whether or not you can sing well. I don't care whether or not you can rap well.

Are the songs good?

Eminem can rap his ass off to this day but his music is horrible now.

When I see someone use that word, I almost always think they're saying "this person doesn't rap like Big L, book 'em."

Like, to me an incompetent rapper is that dude Viper with the album "You'll Cowards Don't Even Smoke Crack".

I HATE Mickey Avalon's album with all my heart but he's a 'competent' rapper.

And Viper makes dudes getting name dropped in this thread look like Raekwon.

I prefer MC's to bench press the planets and shit like that, but at least be a competent lyricist. That's how I got through the 90's with Raekwon, Tha Alkaholiks, and CMW on the same mixtape.

99.985% of rappers nowadays bite each other style-wise. Back inna day you didn't have to tell me who was on the mic, if I've heard him/her before, their unique style came through. They didn't follow the same rhyme patterns, cadence, or anything (except for a handful of LA rappers.. and they didn't go far).

I had some 2Chainz shit in the ride once giving it a listen, and she was like "I didn't know you liked 2 Chainz!!!". I told her "I don't... and the more I listen to his shit the more I'm convinced he's dumpster water"

I always give these new dudes a listen and so far the only cat that has managed to catch my attention was Kendrick Lamar.
