Yo you ever read something that wasn't supposed to be funny but had yo crackin pu for some reason. Well I was reading this Economist article a few days ago that had me crackin up! It was about the Imax theatres but some of the adjectives the writer was using was funny to me.
Y'all ever experience something simiar?
Related....is there a such thing as deadpan writing?

experience it? yes, and deliver it, too. this looks like a case of nonfiction, journalistic writing where the humor is derived from cliches. sometimes in writing you know you are rehashing a tired or trite expression but do it anyway because the reader doesn't expect any better from the article or the publication. sometimes you just start throwing them in there just to amuse yourself or make a point about the state of writing. i think it gets funny when the reader catches on to that or thinks the writer is completely oblivious to how the writing comes across.
