aren't they just jelly or creme donuts?

i've been here for more than 20 yrs and i've had paczki and i can't understand why they're such a thing 2 days out of the yr. jelly or creme filled donuts are available 365 days per yr.

Paczki are a big deal around here also.

I was raised Catholic and I think because it's a billion calories and fat in one, it is the last gluttonous thing to do before you deprive yourself for Lent.

I dont care for the filling but the dough part is glorious.

I had some in Krakow and they were really good, but they arent as fried or as filled as the ones ive had here

But lilikele DHO said they are a symbol of decadence here in a way, and over there they are just a normal pastry so it makes sense
