"you just won the powerball...how do you spend the money"

Please spare me your sanctimonious pious high horsedness "oh I'll invest in grains and feed the dying monkeys of Sumatra"

Stfu.

No you won't.

You buying your mama a house.

If you dont you wrong.

Notice dad never gets shit in these fantasies? Its always the mom. Theres an adult daycare commercial out where the old lady is rinding a home for the even older mama and the company is called just for mom.

Wtf america? Dad dont get old? We die too you know.

Oh well.

On topic, moms gets hooked up. Id get a big ass house and convince all her old ass friends to move in so they can party. Shes good.

Pops, I'd hook up.

Sisters and brothers I'd pay their house off.

Kids needless to say would be ultra straight.

I'd be the koch brothers of reparations too. Thats how I know I ain't winning, NSA knows what I picked and is gonna marshawn Lynch me

it'd be raining from the front door to the coat check to the bar to the VIP area to the stage and all over the Champagne Room, of course.

obviously mom gets a house and a nice check. dad gets a crib and can retire. sister gets a crib and ONE shot at a business investment from me. mother in law can retire.

a bit goes to Philadelphia public schools and a i'll be consistent funding source for xx amount of years.

a scholarship in my name to Temple University and minority scholarship for my HS.

i dont sh*t about investing, but i'd learn lol. i'd start by playing it safe. i'm not looking to become a hardcore venture capitalist out the gate.

put a chunk aside for my son. college, grad school, first home, first failed business, second failed business, etc.

other than some traveling, my wife and i would live a nice, non-baller life off the interest. until i get caught in a fling with Rihanna and lose half in the divorce.

maybe get a crib big enough to move my parents out here where we all would live
but they're retired and the house in NY is already paid off, so they could sell and relocate at any time

I like the freedom of not having to work for anyone else, I'd invest to make money off of my money and take a nice vacation every year

trying to do goofy shit like have a jam session with george clinton

I'd get a HUGE picture of my face on the side, with the biggest shit eating grin on my face. I'd hire a driver, probably a friend that I'd pay a dumb high salary to, and that bus would be my primary vehicle. Like if I gotta make a run to Target, I'm taking the bus. Of course, since I have a tour bus, I'd actually go on tour and travel the country and the world.

I'd only fund them if I thought I had money to *burn* though. Having only 250 mil ain't enough to straight burn 150 mil. I need to get my own film career off the ground first.

dont know if I would pay off my house or buy a new one with more land. Actually yeah I would buy one with more land. Not that much bigger but definitely a bigger lot. Take care of parents and inlaws. Kick a bit of cash to my brothers and my wife's siblings. Then find the best people I can to manage that money and make sure it never runs dry and I never have to work again. Then I would be a traveling fool. Hey baby lets go have dinner in Chicago tonight. Bam on a flight to Chicago. Lets go catch a hockey game in Canada this weekend. BAM on a flight.

my mom already has new construction in a gentrified hood so i'd just cake her off with a stipend and call it a day
no other family member would even know i won anything
offspring getting trust funds set to cash out at 35 with stipulations (have to get a degree in STEM etc)
couple hundred thousand for me to nigga it up and get that out my system
the rest put in some mix (70/30) of safe/risky investments and i'd travel getting my andrew zimmerman on off my dividends

a new regular car
an old fun car

travel everywhere

be creative, sometimes, when i wanna

no job

do whatever

until i wanted to live differently

but thats how i want to live for now

26. "Put my closest friends on payroll with 250 K@year salaries."
In response to Reply # 0
Wed Feb-11-15 06:19 PM by Cold Truth

First: Build out a dream home for my family (i.e, wife and kids) ,furnish it to the nines, setup a home theater, gym, a play area for the kids, trick out my home studio a little, setup a basketball court and what have you, build a stocked doomsday shelter, generator, etc. Cop a couple nice but sensible cars, one for my wife, one for me, and perhaps a third family vehicle for travel.

-Setup a living budget- food, utilities, health insurance, life insurance, travel, property taxes, etc.

-Set aside savings, setup some sort of trust for my children, college funds, etc.

-Set aside an investment budget, say, 50 mil. Devote maybe 35% of that into high risk/high reward propositions and invest the rest in varying degrees of conservative risk.

This might include putting a little financial muscle into my ‘big idea’ and hire a couple of people so I can focus on the areas (content) that really drive me.

After that?

-Setup a friends/family budget. Seriously, in Cali, the net payout for this current jackpot after taxes and everything is around $253 mil. No way in hell I don’t pull my people up with me. I could set aside 100 mil for this alone and never blink over it. I’d still have a 100 left (minus that initial setup). Besides, setting some aside for this purpose will help us avoid getting hounded.

-Put my closest friends on payroll. I can’t come up and leave them behind. Every dude in my wedding party would be set for as long as I live, probably around $250k a year. I’d budget for them for, say, 8 years at that rate, and that’s still only 20% of my friends/family budget. The rest of my friends I’d deal with on a case by case basis, but nowhere near the aforementioned 5. We'll see what's up after 8 years. If they can't get self-sufficient after getting 2 mil over 8 years, they don't deserve the money anyways.

-My mom would get a house that I would own and allow her and my step dad to live in.

-I’d deal with my siblings in different ways. My youngest brother would get put on payroll, but not on some baller shit. I’d pay for his college, buy him a decent house, and set him up with like 36k a year through college. We’ll see what’s up after that.

My oldest sister, I’d have to sit down with her and my brother in law and see what they wanted to do. Probably buy them a house, furnish it, and charge them whatever the property taxes are for rent.

The rest of my siblings… who the fuck knows. One other brother would get a nice come up, but the rest is a mixed bag from ‘dead to me’ status to ‘approach with caution’. I’ll have to think about those.

-I have a few cousins (all sisters) that I’d help establish. The rest of my family can kick rocks for all I care.

Far as my dad, lol I might buy his burial plot but that’s about it.

I would cop some new computer gear and go to Bora Bora with my bestfriend and my band for a month. Get my brother and nephew set up with a spot and a few million. Get my parents a new spot but I'll keep the family house and upgrade it for us to all come back to and I would probably live/work out of it on my own as well as a Tip Top loft downtown Toronto. Give my parents a few mill obviously. Oh and buy an office for me and my business partners.

i figure id have about 180 million after taxes.

About 55 million going to set up fam and a couple of friends that held me down in the past.

After setting up my own accts and setting a weekly salary of 7500, id book a trip right away to Hedonism 2 or some other island for 2 weeks.

Then id take mom to Africa, Japan, and then to Vegas. As she is aging that would be something id have to get done asap.

Then, once everyone is good, 1 million dollar shopping spree. Nice 400k home built on 3 acres, 3 car garage, and enough space for a nice RV. Dont know what kind of car id buy but id be googling for about an hour and settle on a couple of nice ones. 50k nice fishing boat, preferably a Grady White. Probably run charter trips off it.

Id probably live more moderately than most. As long as i can go fishing whenever i want, im good.

Tell you what i wont do. Get married. Im getting a vasectomy so no gold diggers cant trap me and just probably eventually have a chick live with me.

2 or 3 houses for me and the wife (one home, two in vacation spots)

at least 3 of my dream cars and 1 for wife

i'd cop cribs for the rest of my family and my wife's family. probably in the same neighborhood so they could all be close.

after that it's kind of up in the air. i mean if you won solo you're sitting on something like 150-200M post taxes (off a 500M+ Powerball)...so even if all that stuff cost 20M you kinda have everything you need in life at that point.

at some point i'd definitely start a charitable foundation for disadvantaged kids from poor neighborhoods.

at the end i'd put it all in some safe investments and live off the few million in interest i'd get every year then pass it down like the new Rockerfellers and be one of THOSE families.

Hire two attorneys and two accountants

Hire a stand in to accept the money in public.

Put my mom on an allowance and get her a 24/7 nurse/sitter. She doesn't need a house (see sowhats post)

My dad has two paid for houses so he would just have his taxes paid on time so he doesn't end up like the rest of Detroit.

Nieces and nephews trust fund with a limit

Buy a couple of multi unit and put people I like in them (not rent free but low rent)
Travel Travel Travel

Hoard the rest and make people grovel for loans or gifts

I know I am a jerk the money will make it worse.

Oh, this is simple. I would have my lawyer claim it. I wouldn't tell a sole. And I would randomly send family members checks through my dummy corporation so they wouldn't know it was me. And I would make sure they signs a confidentiality agreement that they wouldn't come to me for more money and they wouldn't say who gave it to them or how much they got. I of course would pay the taxes up front, put some in trust for my munchkin, pay off all our bills, and fund my hubby's and my respective businesses. I would keep working but live life. And I would probably donate some to my church and my old high school.

i'd contribute the max to the 2 most honest politicians i can think of: Corey Booker in Jersey and Elijah Cummings in Bmore. if i plan to do any good in the hood, i'll have to spend some money to get some influence with people that got a seat at the table and can make things happen.

i would find a bunch of families that got their lights turned off and pay their outstanding balance to get them turned back on.

and i'd go down to the MVA and help pay people's fines so they can drive legally again.

i'm a simple dude. after conservatively investing half of the winnings, i'd run out of shit to buy after spending a couple of million. at that point it's time to do some good in the hood...

So, Mom and dad, younger brother, inlaws. Pay the utilities up for a full year. Buy my Audi and stack away enough to have it repaired. Take a 3 month leave of absence from work during the summer and give my kids a real vacation. Figure out how to get an indoor nitro R/C track built in the area and do what Chris Whitney couldn't.
