I need some ideas. We've been trying every restaurant we've never been to lately.

known for their oyster program, but everything on the constantly changing menu is delicious. good cocktails too. get there when they first open for a guaranteed seat. they don't take reservations and they fill up fast.

also:

St. Cecilia (http://stceciliaatl.com/)
upscale Mediterranean with a seafood emphasis

JCT (http://www.jctkitchen.com/)
slightly upscale southern; great brunch

Porter Beer Bar (http://www.theporterbeerbar.com/)
ridiculous beer list and surprisingly good food

The General Muir (http://www.thegeneralmuir.com/)
play on a southern jewish deli; really good matzo ball soup and pastrami

Sokongdong Tofu House (http://www.sokongdongtofuhouse.com/)
amazing Korean; always crowded, but they turn over tables really fast

Fox Bros BBQ (http://www.foxbrosbbq.com/)
my favorite bbq ITP

Varuni Napoli (http://varuni.us/)
my favorite pizza spot (yes, slightly better than Antico)

Cooks & Soliders (http://cooksandsoldiers.com/)
new spot, serving damn good small Basque-style plates. pricy, but good

Bocado (http://www.bocadoatlanta.com/)
known for amazing double-stack burger, but all the food's good

Jeni's Ice Cream (https://jenis.com/)
not a restaurant, but FUCK that's some fucking good ice cream

Constantly the best food and experience, for me, has been 4th & Swift for years. Trumps Rathbuns while being more seasonal, don't feel as obligated to fall overyourslf as Bacchanalia, zero "it" pretension like at Kimball House or Paper Plane. That said, I like all those places, just not on a normal day. I just tend to gravitate towards good places that you don't feel obligated to the scene around it. I've never been let down by the food at The Optimist, just hate going to the west side. I love the intimacy of the bar at BoccaLupo. Brunch wise, Folk Art is starting to figure it out with great results. Of the new newness, I like what Last Word is hinting at (but I would advise against the cocktails).

So yeah, if my wife and I want what we know is going to be a great meal and experience, 4th & Swift is still our standard bearers.
